Almost all of our painting activities are done with water-based paints. Occasionally, we may work with media such as clay, acrylics, or permanent marker.
Children should come to Art comfortably dressed, but should also be prepared, should an accident occur. You may choose to send an old paint shirt or big t-shirt labeled with your child's name on it. Students keep and store their art shirts in their cubbies. On Art Days they put them on over their clothes before coming to art class. I have included cleaning tips on my site also.
Will my child get his/her artwork back? I haven't seen many pieces come home.
I will often hold on to many pieces of artwork that reflect an understanding of the art concepts taught throughout the school year, for display or contest reasons.
However, students will have a chance to take ALL of their work home by the end of the year.
How can I contact the Art teacher?

What is (YAM) Youth Art Month?
Youth Art Month is an annual observance each March to emphasize the value of art education for all children and to encourage support for quality school art programs. Youth Art Month (YAM) was established over 20 years ago and is a national celebration of art education in our schools. Our district is involved in several YAM recognitions including our students’ art being showcased at both Texas and National Art Education Association conferences.
In honor of Youth Art Month, the FISD will host a district-wide elementary art show from February 21st to February 24th. This year's art show for Purefoy Elementary and all schools in the district will be held at Career and Technology Education Center located at 9889 Wade Blvd, Frisco, TX 75034. The artists’ viewing reception for Purefoy and several other FISD campuses will be held on the evening of February 23rd from 6:00 to 8:30 pm. Students whose work is included in the show will receive an invitation to the reception and receive an art award certificate.
Is the art teacher in charge of the Reflections contest?
I use class time in the fall to promote participation, but I am actually not in charge of the program. Purefoy’s PTA has a Reflections chairperson that will handle any questions and concerns about the program, artwork, status, etc.
Visit Purefoy PTA for more information.
What is the Reflections contest?
Students may participate in the Reflections Program by creating art that is inspired by a specific theme. Students submit their artwork to our Purefoy PTA. Nationally, the program has six arts areas—dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts—and four grade divisions—primary, intermediate, middle/junior, and senior.
What is the Administration Building Art Display?
This art showcase is a relaxed display for the enjoyment of the administrative staff and Frisco community. Each FISD Elementary school will select 20 or more artworks to be on display at the Frisco Independent School District Administrative Building. This is quite an honor as our FISD administrators appreciate children’s art enhancing their walls as much as our students and parents do! This is a wonderful way for Purefoy to showcase our student's artistic talents.
The Administration Building is located at 6942 Maple Street. It is open from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. You are most welcome to stop by to see our display. It will be hanging from May 14th to May 18th
