Guidance Curriculum & Delivery

Guidance lessons are 30-45 minutes in duration and are delivered once a month.  Ms. Aleman, the counselor, typically meets with various grade levels a week depending on the date chosen by their classroom teacher. Guidance lessons often incorporate learning about the 9 school-wide character strengths.  In addition, lessons are developed utilizing the American School Counseling Association’s Mindset & Behaviors, while focusing on the four strands of guidance outlined in the the Texas Model for Comprehensive Schooling Programs (5th Edition)

• Intrapersonal Skills (Identifying feelings, self-regulation)

• Interpersonal Skills (Respect for others, problem-solving, effective communication)

• Personal Health & Safety

• Bullying (How to report, Bullying vs. Conflict)

• Academic Planning (Goal setting, Middle School course selection)

Morning Meetings, Guidance Lessons, and monthly awards will be based off of these Character Traits
