Hi, my name is Susanna Tarpley, and I am the librarian at Christie Elementary. This is my 4th year being the librarian at Christie, and I love it here! I have loved working with students and helping them find books they love. Finding books to read for enjoyment is one of my top priorities. Also, I will be working with each grade level to embed their reading and writing lessons into purposeful library lessons to benefit every student. I have brought library programs to Christie Elementary such as the Christie Coding Club, Bluebonnet Breakfast Reading Club, a 4th and 5th grade Chat and Chew Book Club during lunch, and a Makerspace. We had some amazing author visits last year, and we skyped with 2 authors, also!
I have been with Frisco ISD for 10 years. I have taught 2, 3rd, and 4th grades. I received my bachelor’s degree from Texas State University and my graduate degree from the University of North Texas.
I have lived in Frisco for 22 years and have seen the city really change. I have loved living in Frisco and being a part of Frisco ISD. I have been married for 25 years and have a son at UNT and daughter at Centennial High School.
I am excited about seeing our returning students and new students this year. I would love to have parents volunteer in our library and in our bookfairs. Please email or call me if you are interested. I can be reached at tarpleys@friscoisd.org .
