As of now, the Annual Sexual Assault and Stalking Symposium will be held in person. Should plans change due to the fluidity of the current pandemic, the symposium will switch to a virtual only format and refunds will be issued.
This is a professional conference dealing with sensitive and sometimes difficult subject matter that may not be appropriate for everyone. We are mindful that some individuals may have a difficult time with the subject matter, including those with a history of victimization. This is especially true because the content of the workshop discussion cannot always be anticipated in advance.
Attendees will be required to wear masks when not seated.
There will be limited capacity this year in an effort to minimize the spread of COVID-19.
Registration through Eventbrite is required and will be filled on a first-come, first-serve basis. If the event capacity is reached, a waiting list will be implemented, and priority will be given to those professionals currently working with victims of sexual assault and stalking. Payment must be received prior to the conference.
You will receive an e-mail confirmation if your registration was processed successfully. If you do not receive a confirmation, you may not be registered. Because of the costs associated with every individual who attends the conference as well as space limitations, we will not guarantee attendance if you show up on site without registering in advance.
If you registered for the symposium, you are expected to attend all sessions. While we encourage self-care, as the topics of sexual violence and stalking are difficult subject matter, lengthy absences during sessions could result in denial of registration in upcoming trainings.
All cancellations or substitutions must be emailed to bscott@fris.org and must occur before March 24, 2022. Refunds will NOT be given for cancellations received after March 28, 2022 or for participants who register, but do not attend.
Please be advised that effective July 2019, Eventbrite will no longer return the processing fee ($2.89) when a refund is requested.
If you are d/Deaf, hard of hearing, have a disability, or have medical related dietary restrictions and would like to request an accommodation, please contact Nikki Godfrey at 304-622-4441 or via email ngodfrey@fris.org, preferably three weeks prior to the event. In your message, please provide your contact information and specify what accommodation you are requesting. Every effort will be made to accommodate advanced requests.

Use #WVSymposium22yrs or #FRIS2022 so we can stay connected throughout the day!
Training certificates will be emailed to the email address provided during registration within one week after the training. Information will be pulled directly from your registration, so please verify spelling and capitalization is correct. If you need a certificate reissued due to spelling errors, there will be a $5 charge. If you attend the conference in place of another attendee and WVFRIS was not made aware of the substitution by March 24, 2022, there will be a $5 charge for a certificate. No printed certificates will be available this year.
If you must leave early and will need a training certificate, there will be an early departure sign-out sheet on the registration table. Your continuing education hours will be adjusted to reflect the departure time, as per Continuing Education requirements. It may take up to two weeks to receive your revised certificate.
When attending West Virginia Foundation for Rape Information and Services (WVFRIS) training events or meetings, we welcome individuals with service or emotional support animals to attend. We follow the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) guidelines, using their definition of a service animal: any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability. Emotional support animals, comfort animals, and therapy dogs are not service animals under Title II and Title III of the ADA. For the protection of other event attendees, we therefore require participants with an emotional support/comfort animal to obtain documentation from their medical or mental health professional and submit it prior to the event. Because of liability limitations, no lodging will be paid for attendees with animals other than those qualifying as service animals under the ADA.
