Runway Information
KPFC has one runway: 14/32. Landing to the northwest is most common since northerly winds often accompany good weather. When landing to the northwest (32), the runway is 1860' long. When landing to the southeast (14) the approach is more difficult and there is a 300' displaced threshold, leaving just 1560' for landing. The runway is a narrow 30' surrounded by soft ground. Use caution for waterfowl and deer that are often present and for debris left by occasional winter flooding. For more information see:

Cam info:
Mid-field cam pointing NE: camera is on the west side of the runway. One can see the north part of the runway as well as the approach landing from N to S. The NW windsock may been seen in this camera.
Mid-field cam pointing SE: camera is on the west side of the runway. One can see the mid to south sections of the runway as well as the approach from S to N.
South cam pointing W: Shows the S windsock and a view of weather toward the ocean - usually the source of incoming rain and fog. Seasonal flooding of the Nestucca River onto the south end of the airport can be seen, also. Pilots need to be sure to check tide charts for high tides during the winter storm season. King Tides coupled with a storm can cause significant flooding of the airport. It is common for flooding debris to be deposited onto the airport during winter months.
Ramp cam pointing E: Shows the northern section of the ramp and some of the parking tees.
Reported weather is associated with a time and date. It is imperative that one checks the time and date to know that the weather information is current.
Please Note: This weather station is not run by the State of Oregon or the FAA. It is for informational purposes and non flight use only. This weather station is owned and operated by Friends of Pacific City State Airport, a 501(C)3 nonprofit corporation. The weather station was installed in Summer 2021, after several pilots donated funds for its purchase.
The decrepit restrooms that were on site since the early 1950s were remodeled the summer of 2019. Thank you ODA for dedicating aviation gas tax funds for the project. There are two unisex toilets. The code to access the restrooms is the unicom frequency code for the airport. Please be sure to close the doors and make sure that they are latched and locked.
Tillamook PUD provided grant funds for a picnic table and small area of green space near the restrooms. A second picnic table was provided by a local Eagle Scout. A small bench near the restrooms was donated in memory of Bob Rissel, long-time supporter for the airport.
Tillamook PUD provided funds for a bicycle shed, which is located under a large tree on the west side of the airport, near the airplane parking area. Grant funds also covered the purchase of 2 youth bicycles, landscaping and signage costs. Mary Jones and Jeff Schons of Nestucca Ridge Family of Properties donated 4 bicycles for the bike shed. Currently there are 4 available adult bicycles in the shed. Ask the hardware store for access to 2 youth bicycles. The code to access the bike shed is the unicom frequency code for the airport.
The Tillamook PUD grant covered the cost for an informational sign at the airport. Current airport and community information is posted. Pilots, please be sure to sign in when you land at the airport. There's a colorful sign-in box mounted on the information sign.
There is limited parking for aircraft - only 5 tie downs. Unless it is summer time, the grassy areas are often too soft and wet for aircraft parking. Do not park in front of hangars without permission from their owners, the owners often need to fly, also.
No aviation fuel is provided at KPFC. The nearest AV Gas is available at:

The Friends of Pacific City State Airport are committed to ensuring the wise management and use of our State-owned airport.
The Oregon Dept. of Aviation has the primary responsibility of the airport's maintenance, operation, and safety. Our Board and volunteers are actively working with them to address maintenance, plan improvements, and to identify / mitigate safety and liability concerns.
State operated (ODA) web cams had failed and the state had not fixed them for a year, so Friends replaced them with Friends-purchased and maintained webcams. A total of 4 webcams now grace the field.
The Recreational Aviation Foundation (RAF's site) contributed and built a larger bike shed. (Thank you RAF for your support of the airport!) Thanks too for the extra efforts of Robyn Holdman and John Dunlap to make this happen. The old bike shed now contains airport supplies.
A french drain was placed around the restrooms to keep restroom floors from getting silt-covered after hard rains.
A walk way from bike sheds to Rueppell Avenue was added. This crosses private property and is generously and conditionally allowed by the property owner. Please be respectful and quiet while passing the house.
Cooperation of the ODA and Friends organizations yielded a $20,000 grant from the transient lodging tax (TLT) of Tillamook County. This grant is to be used to plan a fix for the airport's drainage system which has failed. In addition, the 2022 work party addressed landscaping around the restroom and picnic area. Shrubs were purchased and planted near the picnic area. The berm in which they were planted was constructed of concrete refuse and needed cosmetic improvement.
This work party had the task of moving a bike shed such that pilot traffic to and from the shed would be more neighbor friendly. There were two new lots purchased by the ODA to provide public access to the airport (hard to believe, but all such access was done through private land). These lots were cleared of debris and mowed. Picnic area was created near the restrooms.
In early 2020 the ODA Board voted to dedicate $430,000 of SOAR Funds for additional improvements for KPFC - airport drainage system repair or replacement, additional airplane parking, emergency services access to the airport, and automobile parking for airport users. Unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic caused reduced flying of commercial jets and private airplanes. This resulted in a significant decline in the AV gas and jet fuel gas revenues, which fund State airport maintenance and improvements projects. The Oregon Department of Aviation announced that it would put the SOAR projects at KPFC on hold for 2020. The Friends of KPFC Board was able to successfully convince the Oregon Department of Aviation to purchase 2 adjacent residential lots for sale on the west side of the airstrip. These lots will provide future public access to the airport as well as public parking and an airport observation area.
During April 2019, ODA installed 2 webcams on the roof of a private hangar at the airport. Later in June 2019, ODA remodeled the dilapidated restrooms and removed the hazardous trees that were on private property on the north end of the airstrip. Friends of Pacific City State Airport has received a grant from the local PUD to make additional improvements at the airport. Plans are to provide ground pavers leading to the toilets, a picnic bench, landscaped park, informational sign, bike shed and bikes for visiting pilots.
This maintenance list was used to conduct a volunteer work party on Saturday, September 22, 2018. More than 50 volunteers helped out with various tasks. Volunteers donated equipment, labor and resources to remove trees, brush, weeds and drainage ditch debris. Eleven dump trucks of chipped trees and garbage were hauled away. They mowed the airstrip. It was estimated that the in-kind donations to the Oregon Department of Aviation valued more than $54,000.
This maintenance of the airport by the Friends and volunteers has been repeated yearly since then. Each work party involves lots of work: cleaning of restrooms, prep for safety, painting, weeding, and so on, but below there are note about capital improvements.
The Oregon Dept. of Aviation Board voted in January 2018 to dedicate $60,000 of SOAR funding to deferred maintenance projects for the airport. Friends of Pacific City State Airport is partnering with ODA to leverage the State funding with volunteers and money raised through donations and grants. Our nonprofit group is committed to establishing a strong, and long-lasting partnership with the State to jointly manage this public asset.
On June 16, 2018 the Maintenance Committee invited Matt Maass, Oregon State Airport Manager, to walk the airport to identify objects that are encroaching on the State airstrip and that could be hazardous to pilots landing in Pacific City. The State Airport Manager and the Committee developed a list of maintenance items that could be addressed immediately and in the future. They also identified potential improvements that could be made to the airport with additional funding and produced a maintenance list.
Work parties are held annually in the late spring to early fall - when the grounds are dry enough for equipment. Volunteers are always appreciated. Many are pilots with their families and many are local residents. We have had the benefit of much heavy equipment at hand, too. If you want to help, email the Friends group at the email address in the footer below.
Please contact Friends of KPFC if you can offer time, skills and funds to help with the airport maintenance and improvement. See the footer of this page.
