Setup a New Computer

Congratulations, you just bought a new Windows PC or Apple Mac, laptop or desktop! If you have not purchased yet, check this out.

Now what?

This can be a complicated process. We recommend that one of SCTC volunteers assist you with this.

If it is a new laptop, we may be able to help you in one of our drop-in sessions at the Senior Center, see our SCTC site for schedule information.

If it is a desktop PC or Mac, a home visit will be required. Submit a request.

Things to consider or plan for: (details can be discussed with you when we schedule the visit)

• Gather all of your account logins and passwords that you will need on the new computer.

• If you are wanting data transferred (documents, pictures, music, etc.) you probably will need external devices such as USB sticks, or external USB drives to copy data to and paste into the new computer.
