FTHS IB Diploma Programme Curriculum

IB classes are offered at the Standard Level (SL) and Higher Level (HL).

  • HL and SL courses differ in scope but are measured according to the same grade descriptors, with students expected to demonstrate a greater body of knowledge, understanding and skills at higher level.

  • Students must take at least 3, but no more than 4 HL classes. The remainder of their IB classes are SL.

  • Courses span two years, with the exception of Group 6 classes (Visual Art, Music, and Design Technology) which are three semesters each.

In addition, students must complete the Core, which includes the Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge (TOK), and Creativity, Activity, & Service (CAS).

At the heart of this holistic, broad-based education, IB hopes to develop students who embody the characteristics of the IB Learner Profile. Exhibiting these characteristics leads to success in the program and beyond.
