Registering for Incoming 9th Grade Students
How are incoming 9th graders registered for their high school classes?
High School Counselors receive 9th grade course recommendations and elective requests in early January. During the Spring, counselors will visit the middle school to provide information, answer student questions and review recommended and requested courses to help ensure a smooth transition into high school for incoming students and families/guardians.

Academic Programing for 9th Graders
What classes do 9th graders take?
Most 9th grade students take English, History, Physical Education / Health, Science, Foreign Language, and an elective. Your school counselor will go over the choices of classes to help you have the most success in Freshman year.
Do 9th graders need to be concerned about graduation requirements?
Every year your school counselor will monitor your progress toward state graduation requirements. The requirements can be found here.
Where can I see the descriptions and curriculums of FRHSD courses?
All courses offered in FRHSD are listed on the Curriculum and Instruction website. Descriptions, descriptions, and learning standards are available to view. Note: Not all courses are available in all six schools. Check your individual school's Course Scheduling page for electives offered at your child's school. FRHSD is an open access district; a student can self-select into the honors level of a course.
Getting Involved in High School
How can my 9th grader become involved in a club or a sport?
Before even entering high school, students should check out their school's Extracurricular Activities website. This is especially important for students interested in getting involved in a Fall sport; they should check out the site for due dates for paperwork and to get information about pre-season workouts, etc. after their 8th grade graduation.
