The WOW Project is a way to show your best ideas and hard work. In art, we don’t just make things — we learn and grow! You’ll plan your project, try new ideas, and share what you made. You’ll talk about your artwork, listen to feedback, and use it to make your work even better. You’ll also learn about different artists and cultures. Most of all, you’ll discover that your art can tell a story about you!
WOW stands for Wonderful Original Works of Art, because every artist has something special to share!

Get ready to dive under the sea! In this project, you will create your own magical ocean creature using bright neon colors. When we turn on the blacklights, your creature will glow and shine! All of our glowing sea animals will come together to make one big underwater art room. You’ll help turn our classroom into a magical ocean that everyone can explore and enjoy!

Due Date: November 20
Each year, we start art class with the same special project: a self-portrait! That means you’ll be making a drawing of yourself.
Here’s the fun part—I save every self-portrait you create while you’re at Errickson. Then, at the end of 5th grade, I’ll give them all back to you so you can see how much you’ve grown as an artist! (It’s seriously my favorite day of the year!)
In this lesson, we’ll explore how different artists create self-portraits and try some of their techniques ourselves. Get ready to express who you are through your art!

Get ready to spread your wings! In this project, you will design your own feather to add to our giant school-wide artwork. Each feather is unique and different, just like each student in our school. When all the feathers come together, they create a pair of beautiful wings inspired by artist Kelsey Montague, who makes murals that lift people up. When we hang them, our whole school will have wings that remind us we are all part of something amazing and together, we can soar upward!
