Petrified Forest National Park is located in Northeastern Arizona, but about 50 miles from the New Mexico border. Visitors can get to Petrified Forest by following these directions: westbound interstate 40 take 311, drive 28 miles through the park and connect with highway 180 at the south end. Petrified Forest National Park is about 229.6 miles big. Or if you are taking a plane, from Wisconsin the flight is about 8 hours and 8+ minutes. The nearest major airports are in Phoenix, Arizona and Albuquerque, New Mexico. There are also smaller airports in Flagstaff and Show Low, Arizona and Gallup, New Mexico.
