The Deer Mouse was added to the endangered species list on May 21, 2021

• Townsend's Big Eared Bat

The Big Eared Bat was added to the endangered species list on November 29, 2022

• Antelope Squirrel

The Antelope Squirrel has been on the endangered species list since 1980

• Tiger Salamander

The Tiger Salamander has been on the endangered species list since 2003

• Pronghorn

The Pronghorn was added to the endangered species list on  March 11, 1967

Buckwheat has been endangered since 1984.

• Juniper

Juniper was named endangered in 1998.

• Cliffrose

Cliffrose was named endangered on May 29, 1984.

 Petrified  Forest National Park helps these plants by closing an area or limiting the activities that can occur there may reduce the stress on a species or habitat. It may allow for the regrowth of native plants.

Petrified Forest National Park protects endangered species because they don't allow humans or any tamed animals (dogs, cats, horses, etc.) explore or venture in areas where these animals live. Also, the park rangers keep endangered species in special areas where visitors may not go.
