PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
DeWittville Creek, a tributary of Lake Chautauqua, recently was the site for a significant streambank restoration project as part of the New York State Water Quality Improvement Project program. This DeWittville Creek Restoration Monitoring project is designed as a long-term study that seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of the executed project design. Long-term evaluation of stream restoration projects is rare, yet are needed to determine if currently favored designs are effective. This project is conducted within the context of courses taught at SUNY Fredonia (GEO 410 and 450) and includes student involvement. Each year, students will collect stream data and process lab data. You can find each year's research posters at the Student Research section.
Stay tuned for more information on this project.
