Enrollment & Application Process
To participate in the FCPS Virtual Academy, students must be enrolled in Franklin County Public Schools. Virtual elementary students remain enrolled at the local Elementary, middle school students at Benjamin Franklin Middle School, and high school students at Franklin County High School.
Multiple data points are considered when reviewing applications.

Consultation with a school representative who is familiar with the student (usually an administrator or school counselor)
Once an application is submitted and reviewed, the applicant will be notified if they are or are not eligible to participate in the Virtual Academy.
Course Enrollments
Elementary
Elementary students will take Math, Reading/English Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Physical Education. As part of the new Virginia Literacy Program, elementary students will participate in daily synchronous English Language Arts (ELA) / Reading sessions. These live sessions are a vital component of the curriculum, designed to support a child’s reading and language development.
Sessions will be held via Zoom, Daily (Monday-Friday) for 1 hour.
During these sessions, students will engage with their teacher and classmates in real-time. It is important that an adult is available to assist children during these sessions to ensure a smooth and productive learning experience.
