Our Classroom

When Do We Have Art?

**Please DRESS TO MAKE A MESS on art days!**

Although most of our materials are washable, its always good to veer on the side of caution.

Please do not wear your favorite clothes to art.

Daily Procedures

Procedures are the daily routines in the art room. These routines are established on DAY ONE of art and we practice them until they are satisfactory. In my classroom, students begin by listening to any immediate instruction at the door (turn on listening ears, grab a smock or worksheet, etc.) and then they enter as silent as ninjas. They file in and sit on the floor "criss-cross applesauce". After taking attendance, we usually begin with an introduction to the next project, or a review of what we are continuing. Other procedures include staying quiet during demonstrations, following directions, and a quiet, collaborative and speedy clean-up.

I expect students to always do their best try their hardest.

I expect students not to quit.

I expect students to respect the materials, one another, and myself.

I expect students to trust their ability to learn.

I expect students to use their time wisely.

I expect students to explore new ideas and new materials.

I expect students to take risks in their artistic decisions.

I expect students to engage and take part in classroom discussions.

I expect to see students grow in the exploration of all things art.

Through this exploration, I expect students to grow as artists.
