Art with Ms. Taub

All About Me

My name is pronounced Sha-nuh (like Hannah) T- oww-b (like you got poked!)

This will be my 7th year teaching art but my 4th as the art teacher at Mary F. Janvier Elementary School. Before joining the Janvier family, I was a part-time art and technology teacher at Memorial Elementary in Pitman. Previously, I was a long term substitute in my hometown of Egg Harbor Township. I studied Art Education and Printmaking at the State University of New York in New Paltz. My summer free time is spent with my niece and nephew, long days at the beach, creating art and jewelry for others, and reading with a cat on my lap or a dog by my side. I love all things art, music, sci-fi, cartoons, and Halloween.

Why do I teach art?

As an art educator, it is my goal to spread love, optimism and an appreciation for art and the world around us.  Art is for everyone and by giving my students a variety of artistic perspectives and experiences, they can connect to humanity.  Learning artistic skills by exposure to many different mediums and techniques allows students to make individual artistic choices.  When difficulties occur, students apply problem solving skills which further develops their creative independence. My classroom provides an atmosphere for exploration that encourages innovation and creative thinking skills from all subject areas.  Students are able to make cross-curricular connections which provides them with a well-rounded education.

You can navigate this website through the drop down menu in the upper corner. Please feel free to visit the tab associated with your child's grade level. There you will find a list of art units we will be studying and examples of student work.
