Our Year
By: Ava S
We thought 2020 was going to be our year,
but it ended up being a year like no other.
Covid-19 began, and our strange year started to appear
One thing after another.
First there was quarantine, an overdose of isolation.
We were stuck at home, with nothing to do
We missed our friends and family, and hated the separation
And so much more, we were feeling blue
Then our schools started closing, and we were stuck remote.
We woke up, signed in, signed off, and went to bed
Everything was typed, not said, it seemed no day ended on a happy note
It was hard to socialize. It was messing with our head
There wasn't a day where our phone battery lasted
The only way to communicate was through texts
Our eyes were strained, and we were gasted
We didn't realize what screen time effects
Then it was required to wear a mask, even just to say hello
We couldn't see our loved ones without wearing one
This just made things harder, but little did we know
2020 wasn't done
Our cabinets were still full with toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
We just wanted this year to be gone and done
The news was depressing, it acted as a sensitizer
When will this end? we thought, now it's 2021.
