This program is perfect for energetic Pre-K through 5th graders who love to move and play! Boys and girls are welcome!
All practices will be held at the Wrestling room on Busha Road near the Board Office. This is in the same facility that our High School and Middle School Programs practice within. This allows the youth program access to things our whole program uses.
The youth program is a feeder program for our middle and high school programs. Our goal is to prepare young wrestlers to compete successfully in the high school and middle school programs.
We have a tight alignment to our high school program! Coach Marinell has a vision for our program that focuses on consistency from our youngest members through our HS seniors. He along with his coaching staff have been setting the standards, schedule, and wrestling goals for the program from top to bottom. The partnership with the Middle and High School Coaches allow your kids to have an easy transition from one program to another. It also allows us to teach program wide the series of moves that we run.
We have some very familiar faces who have been on the mats helping through previous seasons who are committed to making sure we have good coaching plans following a program laid out by Coach Freeman for every practice. The Middle School and High School Coaches have a presence in the practice room. Where the coaches from practice to practice are Coach Freeman and others.
We really want our young wrestlers (and their families) to learn how to compete. Showing up to practices is awesome – but we want to see more wrestlers on the mats in competitions. The high school team needs some battle-ready wrestlers and the only way to prepare for competition is to compete.
Our practices take place on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. All of these practices are from 6 o'clock to 7 o'clock. On Tuesday the practice will be for more "experienced " wrestlers. In these practices they will learn moves that will carry them into the next levels of wrestling. The other two practices will teach the wrestlers how to wrestle and do basic moves that can help them see success early on in their wrestling career. We will also have opportunities for our more advanced wrestlers to split into sub-groups at practice so they can continue to grow during these more beginners practices. The practices whether advances or not will have Stretching/Tumbling/Drills/Games/Competitions being apart of daily practices.
We want this program to be a fun introduction to a sport we love! We want to build success off of the love of wrestling.
We will have a lot of engagement from our HS and MS coaches and teams with our youth program. Don’t be surprised to see our HS and MS coaches in the room. They want to spend more time with our youth kids to start to build relationships that will help your kids thrive in high school and middle school. They want to help bridge the gap from the youth program to the middle school and on to the high school by building relationships with you and your kids.
