Franklin FAQs
General Questions
General Questions
Q: Who is the management company that runs Franklin?
A: Franklin Academy does not use a management company. Instead, the Franklin Academy Foundation, the charter holder, operates and manages the schools ourselves.
Q: As an employee of Franklin Academy will my child(ren) receive a preference for admission?
A: Yes. Employees must follow the enrollment process by submitting an application for their child(ren) and participating in the lottery process. A preference will be assigned to ensure that the next available seat will be offered to your child.
Q: Are there really 6 different campuses?
A: Yes. We have four (4) campuses in Broward County and two (2) in Palm Beach County.
Broward:
Cooper City [K-8]
Pembroke Pines [K-8]
Pembroke Pines [K-12]
Sunrise [K-8]
Palm Beach:
Boynton Beach [K-8]
Palm Beach Gardens [K-8]
Q: What do you expect from your teachers and staff?
A: We provide all new staff with a copy of both the employee and campus handbooks. These cover school rules and regulations.
When interviewing prospective employees, we are looking for people who work well on a team. We love the camaraderie we have cultivated on our campuses and working as a team is crucial to our long-term success.
Q: What makes Franklin different from a traditional public school?
A: Autonomy! While we do follow district guidelines as they are laid out in our Charters, we do have the freedom to choose the curriculum that we feel is best for our population of students. Additionally, we can make choices that will make the best impact on our students and continue to help them be successful. Some examples are: school hours, how many periods in a middle school day and how long should they be, what technology software we want to purchase to help our students continue to excel, what training we feel our staff need to help them the most in the classroom, etc.

Q: Do I need prior experience with the International Baccalaureate Program to get hired?
A: No. While we certainly prefer to hire instructional personnel with IB experience, it is not required. We will provide everything you need to know to become an amazing IB teacher.
Q: What professional development do you offer?
A: New 10/11 month employees start school two weeks before students and have Professional Development during those days. [Returning Franklin employees start 7 days before students] Additionally, throughout the year, we have several PDD days built into the calendar and have a variety of topics we cover. Our school also participates in some district offerings as well.
Built into our budgets are also funds set aside to allow a number of teachers to attend conferences and 3rd party trainings.
Q: Does Franklin offer a mentoring program?
A: YES! Franklin Academy mentors all teachers who are new to our campuses. Beginning teachers and veterans all receive guidance from their teammates, support staff, and the leadership team to help develop effective teaching and learning and build community.
Q: What opportunities for advancement are available at Franklin?
A: Franklin Academy embraces the “grow our own” philosophy. We highly promote professional development and provide opportunities for teachers to hone their craft.
