The chaplaincy team held a non uniform day in conjunction with Christmas jumper day to raise funds for Mary's meals. A total of £185.85 was raised.
Several weeks ago the children were attended an assembly delivered by 'The Passage’ Charity. The Passage takes its values and ethos from the teachings and example of St. Vincent De Paul, a Christian and social reformer who co-founded the Daughters of Charity in 1633. Vincent believed in action rather than words and in hands-on service to vulnerable people.
Our school chaplaincy team has decided to host a final fundraiser for this term. We kindly ask families to donate toiletries such as :
Shower gel,
Shaving foam,
Toothbrushes,
Toothpaste
Shampoo
Deodorant
Sanitary products
Please bring your donations and place them into the box in the front office, before the 11th July. All donations are greatly appreciated and there is continued support for people who need it.
‘"Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’" Matthew 25:40
This lent, the children voted to support Cancer Research Uk. On Monday 17th March the school chaplaincy team organised a ‘Green Day’ to celebrate St Patrick. All donations raised will be donated to our chosen Lenten charity - Cancer Research. In total £196.88 was raised.
On behalf of Calling London I wanted to tell you how thrilled I was that St Francis of Assissi School got involved with our annual Winter Coat Campaign. The coats are desperately needed by so many in London, and I'm so pleased that we were able to collect 10,000 coats this year.
We are grateful for every donation received, as every single piece of clothing is passed out to someone who really needs it. In the current cold weather we become more than ever aware of how critical it is to be protected from the winter temperatures. Coats are a luxury for some and a necessity for others.
Since this past Monday over half the donated items have been distributed all across London, to food banks, to homeless shelters, to refugee groups, to mother and baby groups, and to charities working with modern slavery. Every coat really does count, as I’ve been reminded by those who run these charitable groups. Kindly do extend my warmest thanks to all those who so generously donated and made such a difference for so many in need.
Frances, Calling London
