2025 marks the tenth anniversary of Pope Francis’ landmark encyclical Laudato Si’, a transformative call to “care for our common home”
Addressed to all people of good will, Laudato Si’ urged global action on climate change as a moral and social justice issue, highlighting the interconnected ‘cry of the earth’ and ‘the cry of the poor’.
Now ten years on, we are still learning about and from this important letter. In this Jubilee Year, as Pilgrims of Hope, we are seeing how it inspires us to act to care for our common home today and to be hopeful for its future.
Laudato Si’ Year (May 2020-May 2021) celebrates the fifth anniversary of Pope Francis’ encyclical on care for our common home. This will be year-long journey of transformation, as we grow through the crisis of the current moment by praying, reflecting, and preparing together for a better world to come tomorrow.
Pope Francis has invited Catholics to pray and act for our common home.
“I invite all people of goodwill to take part, to care for our common home and our most vulnerable brothers and sisters.” (Pope Francis, 2020)
