7th Grade Drama Class

Students in 7th Grade may select Drama as an elective. There is no prerequisite. It is not necessary to have had Drama as a 6th Grader. Drama Class meets three times per schedule rotation for one trimester. As part of our curriculum, we build on what 7th Grade students are studying in English Language Arts. Storytelling is the primary focus of this year of study. We build on the foundation of story structure from ELA and move stories from page to stage with verbal and non-verbal storytelling, visual communication, scripted and non-scripted scenes. Students will participate in STEAM based lessons with an emphasis on engaging all learners.

Students taking Drama will not have Visual Art in the same year; however, we do incorporate a wide variety of visual communication and art into our Drama projects.

Curriculum Units Include:

  • Theatre Basics and Etiquette

  • Verbal and Non-Verbal Communication

  • Dramatic Structure

  • Storytelling and Story Theatre

  • Enactment (Role Play)
