Super Celebrations at FPIS to Mark the End of 2025-26!
2025-26 has been a busy and brilliant year in our school! It has been a privilege to see how well our children have progressed. They have grown in so many ways and we are all very proud of what they have achieved this year.
As you will know, our school has a very dedicated staff team who are passionate, hard working and nurturing. Once again this year, our staff have all gone above and beyond every day to make sure every child in our school has the best possible start to their learning journey - filled with so many exciting and engaging experiences. I cannot thank them enough for all their efforts and support.
Equally, the support that we have had from our parents and families throughout the past year has also made a huge difference to what we do here at FPIS. Thank you all! We are really very fortunate to be part of such a fantastic community and very much value our partnerships with parents. I would also like to thank our parents and families for the many lovely words, cards and gifts that we have all received as the year has drawn to a close. We have been totally overwhelmed by your generousity and kindness. A very BIG thank you to you all on behalf of the whole staff team :)
Over the last few weeks, we have celebrated the end of our academic year with some wonderful events in school...
Our Year 1 Excellent Ending event was a real showcase for the children's learning this term. The children performed a selection of songs that literally took us all together on an adventure around the world! It was great that so many parents and family members were to be able to join us to see and hear all about the things the children had been doing as they proudly shared their project scrapbooks afterwards too. The children's excitement and passion to share their learning was overhwhelming and a real joy to see! My thanks once more to our fabulous Year 1 team who did such a brilliant job with planning and organising the event.
In Year 2, There's a Sunflower in my Supper has been generating lots of fun and laughter across the school for the past few weeks as the children in Hazel, Holly and Willow began preparing for their End Of Year Performance. It was evident from all the smiles, energy and enthusiam that filled the school hall on Thursday and Friday last week, that the children thoroughly enjoyed putting on the show for their parents, family and friends. Their confidence was wonderful to see and it was so impressive that everyone had learnt their lines, dance moooves (sorry!), actions and song lyrics so well! Well done Year 2's - as per the last line in the play it was UDDERLY BRILLIANT! I would like to thank once again our brilliant Year 2 team for all their hard work and creativity putting the production together - and for doing such an amazing job with script, casting, props and costumes.
As we wish our Hazel, Holly and Willow Class children farewell as they end their journey here at the Infant School, we send them on their way with our very best wishes for the next steps in their FPPF journey at FPJS. We are incredibly proud of you all and look forward to hearing about your new adventures from our Junior School colleagues next year! :)
Finally, our Early Years Graduation yesterday brought our celebrations to a close for this year. What a lovely way for the children to mark the end of their first school year with us here at FPIS! They have made a great start to life here at FPIS and we could not be prouder of them all. The children's enthusiasm and dance moves during their performance of 'Shake it off!' was joyful to watch and so full of passion, energy and fun! I would like to say another big thank you to our Early Years staff for putting in a super team effort to make sure our children end their Early Years journey with such a memorable and fun experience!
We will look forward to welcoming our Year 1 and 2 children and families back to school on Wednesday 2nd September @ 8:45 am. We will be checking in with our new Reception children and families when they come into school for their visits during the first few days of the Autumn Term and will be delighted to welcome them on their first day at school on Monday 7th September @ 8:45 am.
So, as the school year ends, we can look forward to the summer break. Thank you once again for your continued support. I would like to wish you all a very happy, safe and restful summer holiday! :)
With very best wishes
Jane Indge

SAM - our School Attendance Mascot, is our FPIS teddy bear who helps our children think about why it is so important to attend school every day.
Our children are busy learning right from the start of the day, so being in class on time each morning matters just as much too. Registration begins at 8:45am and we expect all children to be in class by 9:00am.
Each week, during our Celebration Assembly, the attendance figures are shared. The class with the best attendance overall gets to look after SAM until the following week. SAM will be spending his summer holiday in Silver Birch Class as they had the highest attendance figure overall - an impressive 99%! Great job!
Our latest school attendance figures for each class are shown in the table. Our school attendance target is: 97%

After many weeks and months of anticipation, the Trunks Across the Thames art trail is finally here!
There are more than 90 elephants in total, all beautifully decorated, situated in and amongst the street, parks and public spaces of Slough and Windsor. Our FPIS elephant, Blossom, has joined the rest of the herd and can be found at the Maidenhead Heritage Centre. The art trial is on until 13th September.

Following the recent FPSA silent auction, Miss Jessica took up her post as Head of School for the day last Friday.
When Miss Jessica arrived in school, she very kindly popped a box of biscuits in the staff room - instantly making her a very popular Head of School indeed! Then, the day got off to a busy start with gate duty alongside Mrs Indge, after which it was time to welcome the Year 2 parents and families for the End of Year Production of 'There's a Sunflower in my Supper!' Miss Jessica then had the task of helping to prepare for our special End of Year Celebration Assembly, signing the Head of School Awards and organising the other certificates. Fortunately, there was just enough time to stop for a drink and biscuit in the staff room before joining the Book Bingo session, talking to some of our Year 2 children about their work this term.
After lunch, Miss Jessica visited each classroom to let the children know what surprise she had planned for them all - ice pops! On yet another hot afternoon, the children were very pleased indeed to have such a lovely treat.
The day ended with a few more tasks before heading home for the weekend.
Thank you, Miss Jessica - you were a really fantastic Head of School!
Reception
What a super start to school our Bumblebees, Caterpillars and Dragonflies have had over the past few weeks! We have been so impressed with how brilliantly they have settled into the school routine, utilising their new environments and forming new friendships with their peers and all of the teachers.
The children have been exploring the different areas in their own classroom and investigating our outdoor areas also. They have been learning and applying new skills, such as putting their pictures and belongings in their drawers and learning how to be independent at school by doing up their own coats. The children are embracing the responsibility of hanging up their coat, putting away their bags and looking after their water bottles too! As the Autumn weather begins to make an apperence, please keep practicing those self-help skills. For example, encouraging your child to put on their own coat and doing it up.
We have been incredibly impressed with all of the 'Me and My Family' posters that you took your time to do over the summer holidays. These posters have gone up on the wall in the children's 'special space' and they have felt comforted and excited to share them with their new friends and teachers. We have loved spending time looking at the posters, learning more about the children and their families. It has given us all a chance to bond over things that are important so that they feel valued, safe and happy in our classrooms.
We have loved seeing our Ready Teddies out and about practising for school over the summer holidays! It has been wonderful to see so many children learning, exploring and enjoying new experiences alongside their Ready Teddies as they prepared for their exciting next step. The children have been so excited to tell us all about what they have been getting up to with their Ready Teddies and we have loved hearing about and looking at their adventures. We have also enjoyed discovering some of the fantastic new names the children have given their Ready Teddies, such as Robbie! A big well done to all our children for taking part and helping their Ready Teddies get ready for school, it really has supported their super transition to school!
Our Bumblebees, Caterpillars and Dragonflies have shown great enthusiasm towards learning at school and they were extremely excited to take home their first ever phonics reading book this week! The children have impressed us with their 'fast eyes' in maths when subitising and they have been creating counting wands to order and tag numbers. Some children have had a go at exploring natural patterns in the woodlands using objects such as conkers, stones, sticks and leaves!
Last week we were reading The Colour Monster and using our schools 'Zones of Regulation' to support the children to understand their emotions and how we look, feel and act when we experience these different feelings. The children loved designing their own Colour Monster as well as acting out the different expressions represented by the colours! We have displayed a picture of the children acting out these emotions in our classrooms so that the children can show us how they are feeling each day! We have also been learning about what our amazing bodies can do and we have been reading project books, such as 'Your Body is Awesome!' This has inspired the children to challenge themselves to use their bodies in different ways such as balancing, hopping and risk taking!
During project, the children have been using mirrors to notice their own features in their reflections. After creating a giant self-portrait as a class and discussing the different facial features we have, the children were eager to get busy with designing and creating their own self-portrait using a mirror to help them along the way.
We are so incredibly proud of how our wonderful Bumblebees, Caterpillars and Dragonflies have settled into school. It is SO great to see them all exploring, designing, creating and investigating in their new environments with big smiles on their faces! Well done Reception!
What a brilliant way to end our project "We're Going on an Adventure!". The Year 1 children performed a range of songs sharing the things they have learnt throughout this project. This included; the seven continents of the world, a song about explorers, different ways to say hello and a song from Ghana. All of the songs were performed by the Year 1 children with confidence and enthusiasm.
After this wonderful performance, the children were able to share their group artwork which included different habitats from around the world made using papier mache! They also made their very own murals representing different continents from around the world. The children have loved bringing their ideas to life, working in teams and sharing their creativity!
We are so proud of the Year 1 children and all they have achieved this year. Thank you also to all of the wonderful families who came to support this lovely event.
The Year 1 children had an exciting opportunity to make as much noise as we wanted through the medium of music! Our drummer demonstrated how to play each instrument and we got the chance to play some call and response rhythms and sound patterns. As you can see from the photos, despite it being very loud we had a fantastic time! The children thoroughly enjoyed their African Drumming workshop and it even inspired some of them to become musicians in the future!
Beech Class had a fantastic time taking part in the sports festival with FPJS! The children enjoyed a variety of exciting activities, including tennis, relay races, and tri golf. It was wonderful to see everyone trying their best, working together as a team, and encouraging one another during different activities. Thank you to Miss Gill for running this event for us!
Our Year 2 children did such a fantastic job during our Summer Production called: 'There's a Sunflower in my Supper! 'We were so proud of their passion, commitment and determination to put on a fantastic show and they certainly achieved that! Over the last few weeks they have been working hard on their costumes, props, dances, songs and their lines and their hard work certainly paid off!
The children all did a fantastic job; they were brave, passionate and entertaining.
Well done you were udderly moooovellous!!
Good luck in your next academic adventure Year 2, you will be sorely missed!
As part of our exciting and busy transition programme, the whole of year 2 took part in a Sports Festival organised by our very own Mrs Swaffield and Miss Gill (FPJ PE Coach) and a team of Year 6 Sports Captains. We had a great time on the Junior School Field taking part in a range of different sporting activities. Some of these activities included: golf, football, tennis, relay races and basketball.
We had a great morning! Thank you to all staff members across the Federation who helped make this brand new event so successful! :-)
What an incredible year it has been for our Eco Representatives! A huge thank you to the Eco team for their hard work and enthusiasm to making FPIS a greener, more eco-friendly place. We wish them all the very best in their next adventures and know they’ll keep bringing fantastic, green ideas wherever they go!
Sunflower Growing Competition:
Don't forget to keep caring for your sunflowers over the Summer break! We can't wait to see how tall they've grown, so please remember to send in your photos and measurement updates after the Summer holidays.
School Council enjoyed doing a final cupcake sale to raise money for Trunks Across the Thames! We are now delighted to say we have reached our target - HOORAY! Thank you to everyone who helped bake or buy cakes and of course, those of you who bought some! If you would still like to donate we would very much appreciate it.
In nurture, we have been super busy adding to our 'under the sea' display. We have used watercolours to decorate different types of sea life including fish, turtles, sharks and seaweed.
We have really enjoyed making sandwiches this term, the children have followed step by step instructions and chosen either jam or marmite as a filling and finally getting to eat them.
Our growing beds on the front playground are looking amazing, we have had to really keep on top of the watering in this hot weather.
Finally The Nurture team, Mrs Barker and Mr Thompson would like to say goodbye to our year 2s and wish them well in year 3 and look forward to seeing our EYs and year 1s in September. Hope you all have a wonderful summer!
Many congratulations to our green house team, Draco, for being awarded the most house points this term - an awesome 884! A great effort from everyone. Well done!
Every Friday, during our whole school Celebration Assembly, Head of School awards are given out to a child or children in each class. The certificates are presented by Mrs Indge to those children who have consistently demonstrated excellent behaviours for learning.
Miss Dexter pops on her Superhero cape each week during Celebration Assembly to present our SuperPoWeR awards. The awards are given to children who have been demonstrating excellent behaviour through our school values of Passion, Well being and Respect.
Every week, during our Head of School Assembly, a bingo ball is selected from our special red bag. The bingo balls are numbered 1 - 30. Each child in Year 1 and 2 with the corresponding register number to the ball chosen will have the opportunity to bring their Maths book and Project scrapbook to share with Miss Dexter, Miss Edmondson, Miss Aggarwal and Mrs Indge later that week. During the Book Bingo session, the children spend time looking through the books together with the adults, whilst discussing and explaining what they have been busy learning about.
Summer Fair
Our World Cup Summer Fair took place on Saturday 27th June which certainly was a hot day! Lots of stalls and activities with live performances from Street Dance, Junior School Choir, Infant School Choir, FPJS woodwind performers. Furze Platt's Got Talent winners and Jump Start Jonny Jumpsters. Thank you to everyone who helped at the fair, it has raised over £8,000 for both schools.
Year 2 Leavers' Disco
DJ Dexter and DJ Dee were back to play the music for the year 2s last Friday. A very impressive 88 children attended and danced away in the Infants hall. The event finished with a Jump Start Jonny workout namely 'A-M-A-Z-I-N-G' and all the children got a year 2 leavers' key ring. Good luck to the year 2 children at the Juniors!
Thank you to the year 2 staff who stayed behind to help with the disco, this event has raised over £740 profit for Furze Platt Infant School.
Summer Camp
Our annual summer camp was back last weekend and we had an impressive 35 tents & campervans and 20 day camping families too coming to join in the fun. A huge thanks to year 5 dad Jamie who ran the BBQ and his daughter Mattie who helped serve all the hot dogs and burgers. Add in a tuck shop, bar, football pitch and giant slide and there was something for everyone at this lovely community event. There was even time for some Jump Start Jonny workouts on the Sunday morning. Whooopa!
