Volunteer Opportunities: June 24th to July 2nd

1. Airport Arrival (MKE): Guide participants to the bus location, and provide some help with luggage.

   • Jobs: Greeters; Bus Ushers

   • ** June 21st (Sun) - Moderators & Committee leaders (approx. 100)

   • June 25th (Thu) - Optional travel day- determined by role and YAADs (approx. 200)

   • June 26th (Fri) - All remaining attendees (approx. 600)

   • Additional guests may arrive at nearby airports or drive.

A more firm schedule is posted when participants register and airport schedules are confirmed.

2. Special Events: 

   • June 27th (Sat) - Community Action Day

     1. • Theme: Healing, Not Harm - A Walk to End Gun Violence

        • All available volunteers needed, with a few on specific job opportunities.

        • NOTE: In partnership with PDA

        • Specific Jobs: Park Leader; Park Assistant; Hospitality

        • Tasks to be completed, generally:

          1. Assist with morning setup and preparation of the Baird North Room and Pere Marquette Park

          2. Act as a guide to take a group on "The Walk"

          3. Assist with afternoon Town Hall Hospitality.

   • June 28th (Sun Morning till 1:30pm) - Sunday Worship in Local Churches

     1. • Assist assembly participants with boarding the correct coach/bus and returning to Baird Center.

        • Up to 22 coaches/vehicles departing Baird between 8:00 and 11:00 AM

        • All coaches depart from the Baird Center

        • 18 Churches participating within a 30 mile area.

        • All coaches must return by 1:30 PM for afternoon plenary.

        • Some churches will have a bus usher. They can indicate points of interest.

   • June 28th (Sun Afternoon) - In-Person Plenary

     1. • Baird Center SOUTH - Volunteers needed to meet and greet guests as they pick up their pre-purchased tickets and event badge.

   • June 29th (Monday) - In-Person Plenary

     1. • Baird Center SOUTH - Volunteers needed to meet and greet guests as they pick up their pre-purchased tickets and event badge.

   • June 29th (Tuesday) - In-Person Plenary

     1. • Baird Center SOUTH - Volunteers needed to meet and greet guests as they pick up their pre-purchased tickets and event badge.

   • June 29th (Wednesday) - In-Person Plenary

     1. • Baird Center SOUTH - Volunteers needed to meet and greet guests as they pick up their pre-purchased tickets and event badge.

   • June 29th (Thursday) - In-Person Plenary

     1. • Baird Center SOUTH - Volunteers needed to meet and greet guests as they pick up their pre-purchased tickets and event badge.

3. Worship Services

   • Jobs: Greeters; Ushers; Liturgists; Communion Preparers and Servers; Offering Assistants; Musicians

     1. • Prepare communion bread (done ahead of time and freeze)

        • Layout bread and juice for opening worship

        • Cleaning and packing communionware after opening worship

   • June 29th - Opening Worship (Co-moderators)

   • June 30th - Ecumenical Worship

   • July 2nd - Closing Worship

4. Other General Opportunities

   • June 25th (Fri) - Setup volunteer space, unload items for volunteer room

   • Registration Check in days

     1. Assisting with pre-purchased ticket distribution

   • Plenary and Committee Days

     1. Guiding guests to their location

     2. Assisting with ticket collection at an event.

     3. Helping in the room as needed

   • Social Gatherings

     1. Guiding guests to dinner events and other social events.

   • Communionware Sale

     1. Assisting with sale of communionware
