Autism Champion and Mental Health Champion
This room has two main focuses.
English as Additional Language students who are new to English develop their English skills
Students benefit from a nurtured provision if they need a bit more support at times.
Mrs Feve is our Autism Champion and is a key worker for our ASD students. This is the safe space for those students. Lots of students check in with Mrs Feve in the morning and at the end of school, this often helps then focus and offload at the end of a day. Mrs Dawson is our link within the ASET team and she works closely with Mrs Feve and our ASD students.
Edukey Lead
Students come to the PLC to complete interventions such as Lexia, Toe by Toe or other none educational support interventions. Students also work in here who may have an injury or need to catch up on some work in other subjects.
Every Year 7 will also complete a Lexia assessment in here.
The numbers of students in here changes on an hourly basis.
The academy uses Teaching assistants in a variety of different ways to support students. Most of which is not as one to one support, but to scaffold students and develop independence and progression. Our TAs carry out small group work, 121 support and interventions based around their areas of need and their outcomes.
