How do I help my child build self management skills?
Teach resilience by sharing your struggles.
Discuss your goals and help your child create their own.
Be an example and control your body and words when frustrated and/or angry.
Teach responsibility through chores at home, reading nightly and following through with choices & consequences.
When your child demonstrates delayed gratification, compliment them.
Play games whether it is board games, card games, etc. Encourage team bonding as it helps to teach them to regulate their emotions
