Google Doc is very similar to Microsoft Word. Google Doc is specifically for some sort of writing because it is a blank slate of paper on a screen. Docs can be used for note taking, letters, lesson plans, templates, tables, etc. Collaboration is very important in my role working with staff.
One use of Docs that I learned in Chrome Academy is to create a table and share the document with who wants to collaborate. This can be used with students in group projects or with team members. One way I have created this table in Google Doc is for our PLC leadership team. The table represents each grade level and then the team leader adds the date of the PLC and hyperlinks their agenda to it. This is a wonderful resource for any team member to access as well as be able to laterally align our school building.
I'm working on transitioning from Word to Docs for Section 504, RTI paperwork, counseling schedule, letters to students, staff and parents and emails that are sent out yearly. Docs is the tool that I use the most.
