(N-1-1) Awarded annually to one Cadet who exhibits a high degree of excellence in scholastics

(N-1-5) Awarded to a Cadet that is elected to a student government office

Leadership Development Service Ribbon

(N-1-6) Awarded to Cadets successfully completing first semester of training of each LET year

LTC Earl Massey Ribbon

(N-1-8) Awarded to the Cadet(s) that show genuine care and concern for other Cadets by volunteering their time to assist other Cadets struggling with academics, physical fitness, leadership or other JROTC related areas. Given annually to one Cadet from each company and one to staff.

MSG Johnny Martin Ribbon

(N-1-9) Awarded to Cadet(s) that show pride in everything they do to include but not limited to; involvement in other school activities, personal appearance, supporting other NHS events, and displaying a higher level of professionalism, maturity, and military bearing. Given annually to one Cadet from each company and one to staff.

Best Company Ribbon

(N-1-10) Awarded to each Cadet currently assigned to the company that wins the Best Company competition in a given scholastic year. This award is restricted to those Cadets who are in good academic and disciplinary standing on the date that the winning company is announced to the battalion

Senior Army Instructor Leadership Ribbon

(N-3-1) Awarded annually to the one Cadet in each LET level who displays the highest degree of leadership.

Personal Appearance Ribbon

(N-3-2)  Awarded annually to Cadets who consistently present an outstanding appearance.

Proficiency Ribbon

(N-3-3) Awarded annually to those Cadets who have demonstrated an exceptionally high degree of leadership, academic achievement, and performance of duty.

Drill Team Ribbon

(N-3-4) Awarded annually to Drill team members.

Raider Team Ribbon

(N-3-5) Awarded annually to Raider team members.

Color/Honor Guard Ribbon

(N-3-6) Awarded annually to members of the Color Guard, Honor Guard, and Saber Team

Rifle Team Ribbon

(N-3-7) Awarded annually to Rifle Team members.

Commendation Ribbon

(N-3-9) Awarded to Cadets whose performance of duty exceptionally exceeds that expected of Cadets of their grade and experience.

Good Conduct Ribbon

(N-3-10) Awarded annually to Cadets who have demonstrated outstanding conduct throughout the school. Disqualifiers for this award include: suspension, in-school suspension, and/or a failing grade in JROTC. Additionally, any two of the following will also result in disqualification for this award: teacher complaint, lunch detention, significant debts owed to the school district.

JCLC Participation Ribbon

(N-3-11) Awarded to Cadets for JCLC participation.

Grizzly Community Service Ribbon

(N-3-12) Awarded to the Cadet(s) that habitually and consistently give of their personal time to work or support local events within their school, community, boys/girls club, church, or other non-profit organizations. The cadet must complete a minimum of 40 hours of community service. The service has to be documented and approved by the SAI before award is given.

Best Platoon Ribbon

(N-3-13) Awarded to each participating Cadet assigned to the platoon that wins the Best Platoon Drill competition in a given scholastic year. This award is restricted to those Cadets who are in good academic and disciplinary standing on the date that the winning platoon is announced to the battalion.

Best Squad Ribbon

(N-3-14) Awarded to each participating Cadet assigned to the squad that wins the Best Squad Drill competition in a given scholastic year. This award is restricted to those Cadets who are in good academic and disciplinary standing on the date that the winning squad is announced to the battalion.

CyberPatriot Ribbon

(N-3-15) Awarded annually to members of the CyberPatriot team.

Varsity Athletic Ribbon

(N-2-1) Awarded annually to Cadets in varsity sports.

Physical Fitness Ribbon

(N-2-2) Awarded annually to Cadets who maintain excellent physical fitness. The ribbon will be presented to Cadets receiving an 85-percentile rating or better in all 5 Cadet Challenge events.

ROTC Athletic Ribbon

(N-2-3) Awarded annually to Cadets who maintain a basic, yet challenging level of physical fitness. The ribbon will be presented to Cadets receiving a 50-percentile rating or better in all 5 Cadet Challenge events.

Parade Ribbon

(N-4-1) Awarded to Cadets who have participated in local community parades; for example, Veterans’ Day, Memorial Day, etc.

Recruiting Ribbon

(N-4-2) Awarded to Cadets who recruit students into the JROTC program. Must be validated by incoming cadet. Also awarded to cadets that assist the Cadre with the annual Junior High School Recruiting Presentations.

JLAB Ribbon

(N-4-3) Awarded annually to Cadets participating in JLAB Academic and Leadership Bowls.

NCO of the Month

(N-4-4) This award is presented monthly to the winner of the NCO of the Month board. The NCO of the Month Board is once a month from September through April (inclusive) and measures the NCO’s knowledge, military bearing, and motivation.

Fundraising Ribbon

(N-4-5) Awarded to Cadets that have participated in all of the battalion’s official fundraising activities. Additionally, the Cadet must raise a minimum of $100 in a given year to be considered eligible for this award.

Service Learning Ribbon

(N-4-6) Awarded annually to Cadets who participate in service learning projects. Participation is defined as attending a minimum of 2/3 of scheduled community service learning events, completing the pre-event expectations paper(s), and the post-event reflection paper(s).

Excellent Staff Performance Ribbon

(N-4-7) Awarded annually to Cadet Staff members for excellent performance.

Expert Badge

Arc Pins

Awarded annually to Cadets in good standing that have participated in an event or competed at a competition on the respective team. Each team may have there own specific requirements.

Team Shoulder Cords

Awarded annually to Cadets that are in good standing that are members of a JROTC Team and that have paid team dues. Each team may have their own specific requirements.

Medal of Heroism

The Medal of Heroism is a U.S. military decoration awarded by the Department of the Army (DA) to a JROTC Cadet who performs an act of heroism. The achievement must be an accomplishment so exceptional and outstanding that it clearly sets the individual apart from fellow students or from other persons in similar circumstances. The performance must have involved the acceptance of danger and extraordinary responsibilities, exemplifying praiseworthy fortitude and courage

Superior Cadet

Awarded by the Department of the Army and is limited to one outstanding Cadet in each LET level in each JROTC unit. Must be in the top 10% of his/her JROTC class and in the top 50% of his/her academic class. Must also be recommended by the SAI and Principle.

Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement

The Legion of Valor of the United States of America, Inc., to stimulate development of leadership, gives an award annually for achievement of scholastic excellence in military and academic subjects. This award, a bronze cross and certificate, is awarded to outstanding LET–2 (3-year program) and LET–3 (4-year program) Cadets.  The criteria for selecting students for the Legion of Valor Bronze Cross for Achievement are the same as those for the Superior Cadet Decoration

George C. Marshall Award

The George C. Marshall Award is presented to cadets selected to attend the national level of the Army’s JROTC Leadership Symposium and Academic Bowl (JLAB) event. The award recognizes superior academic achievement and leadership excellence as demonstrated by their unit/team performance in the JLAB competition. The award consists of a bronze medal fashioned in the image of General George C. Marshall.

Army JRTOC MacArthur Leadership Award

The Army JROTC MacArthur Leadership Award is presented to cadets selected to participate in the Leadership Symposium at the national level of the Army’s JROTC Leadership Symposium and Academic Bowl (JLAB). The award recognizes individual leadership excellence as demonstrated in the unit battalion as well as the JLAB leadership team and highlights the ideals for which General MacArthur stood – duty, honor, and country.

Sons of the American Revolution(SAR) Award

The SAR gives the award to a meritorious Cadet enrolled in Army JROTC at each school (or one medal for each 500 Cadets enrolled at time of the award). The award recognizes an outstanding second-year Cadet in a three-year option or a third-year Cadet in a four-year option. Recipient must exhibit a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing, all-around excellence in JROTC activities, and community service.

Military Order of the World Wars (MOWW) Award

The award in each case will be given for overall improvement in military and scholastic studies during the school year. Cadet must be in good standing in all military aspects and scholastic grades at the time of selection and presentation of the award. Have shown marked improvement in both military and scholastic grades at the time of selection and presentation of the award. Have indicated by military and scholastic grades, integrated-curricular activities, or individual endeavor a desire to serve his or her country.

Daughters of the American Revolution(DAR) Award

Presented annually by the DAR to a Cadet at each school for outstanding ability and achievement. The Cadet must be a member of the graduating class, be in the top 25% of the Cadets in JROTC and academic subjects. Have demonstrated qualities of dependability and good character, adherence to military discipline, leadership ability, and a fundamental and patriotic understanding of the importance of JROTC.

American Legion Award for Military Excellence

The Cadet must be in the top 25% of his/ her class in JROTC and non-JROTC subjects. Have demonstrated outstanding qualities in military leadership, discipline, character, and citizenship.

American Legion Award for Scholastic Excellence

The Cadet must be in the top 10% of his/her class in non-JROTC subjects. Be in the top 25% of his/her class in JROTC. Have demonstrated qualities of leadership. Have actively participated in related student activities such as student organizations, constructive activities, or sports.

National Sojourners Award

Awarded to an outstanding Cadet who contributed the most to encourage and demonstrate Americanism within the Corps of Cadets and on the campus. The Cadet must be in the second or third year of JROTC. Be in the top 25% of his or her academic class. Have encouraged and demonstrated the ideals of Americanism by deed and/or conduct. Have demonstrated a potential for outstanding leadership.

Scottish Rite of Freemasonry JROTC Award 

Awarded annually to one outstanding Cadet who demonstrates scholastic excellence and Americanism. The Cadet must Have contributed the most among Cadets on campus to encourage and demonstrate Americanism, by deeds or conduct during participation in integrated-curricular activities or community projects.  Be in the second year of a three-year option or in the third year of a four-year program.

Noncommissioned Officers Association(NCOA) Award for JROTC

This award is presented annually by NCOA to each unit’s most outstanding Cadet Noncommissioned Officer during the past school year. The award consists of a medal, ribbon, and certificate. The Cadet must have won the NCO of the Year board.

Association of the United States Army(ASUA) Medal

The AUSA medal will be presented to Cadets (one per school) who are recognized for outstanding leadership and academic achievement. The SAI and the local AUSA chapter will establish the criteria selection for the award.

Military Officers Association of America(MOAA) JROTC Award

The MOAA JROTC medal will recognize an outstanding Cadet who is in their next-to-last year of JROTC and who has demonstrated exceptional potential for military leadership. To be eligible for an award the candidate must. Be in good academic standing. Demonstrate a high degree of loyalty to the unit, school, and the country. Demonstrate exceptional potential for military leadership.

Reserve Officers Association(ROA) Medal

The ROA award is presented to a Cadet in recognition of outstanding achievement and exceptional leadership ability. To be eligible for this award the candidate must be in the second year of a three-year option or the third year of a four-year option. Be in good academic standing. Demonstrate a high degree of loyalty to the units, school, community, and country. Demonstrate exceptional potential in leadership.

Military Order of the Purple Heart(MOPH) Award

The MOPH award recognizes an outstanding Cadet who is enrolled in the program and demonstrates leadership ability. The recipient of the award must hold a positive attitude toward the JROTC and country. Hold a leadership position in the Cadet Corps. Be active in school and community affairs. Attain a grade of ―B or better in all subjects for the previous semester. Not have been a previous recipient of this award.

Veterans of Foreign Wars(VFW) Award

The VFW awards are presented to Cadets in recognition of outstanding achievement and exceptional leadership ability. Positive attitude toward the JROTC. Outstanding military bearing and conduct in and out of uniform. Personal attributes (self-confidence, initiative, flexibility, and judgment). Patriotism (commander or member of color guard, drill team with or without arms, flag protocol instruction team and actively promote Americanism). Courtesy (dependability, punctuality, human relations, respect. cooperation). Growth potential (capable of assuming high leadership responsibilities in the unit with additional training and experience).

Daedalian JROTC Achievement Award

The Order of Daedalians is a fraternity of commissioned military pilots from all military services. The medal is fashioned after an ancient Grecian plaque which depicts Daedalus and his son Icarus fabricating their legendary wings of wax and feathers. To be eligible for an award the candidate must demonstrate patriotism, love of country, and service to our nation. Indicate the potential and desire to pursue a military career. Rank in the upper 10% of his/her JROTC class. Rank in the upper 20% of his/her high school class.

Cadet of the Month

The Cadet of the Month Award is presented to the winner of the Cadet of the Month board. The Cadet of the Month board is held once a month from September through April (inclusive) and measures a Cadet’s knowledge, military bearing and motivation.

Cadet of the Year

The Cadet of the Year Award is presented to the winner of the Cadet of the Year board. The Cadet of the Year board is restricted to those who have displayed a high level of knowledge, military bearing and participation in the JROTC program.
