No experience is required to try out for the spirit teams. We welcome any candidates who are interested in cheer and dance, and have accepted many past members with no previous experience.
Attend the mandatory tryout meeting with a parent and fill it out the required paperwork.
Turn in a current physical exam form to Coach Wilbourn or Coach Chamberlain (less than 15 months old)
Report to practices March 4th-6th
Sign up for optional technique and tryout clinics
Results will be released via email and social media on tryout date at 8:00 PM.
Cheer will be between 12 and 20 candidates, and Charmers will be 12 to 24. The number accepted depends on the tryout scores.
If I make the team, do I have to compete?
Both cheer and Charmer teams will compete in 2025. Participation will be mandatory for all team members this year.
Cheer and Charmer tryouts are judged by Coach Wilbourn and 1-2 qualified guests. Guests judges are different for cheer and Charmer tryouts, but all have an extensive knowledge and background in the sport.
The cheer tryout involves a crowd cheer, jumps, and tumbling (standing and running) performed individually, and chants and dance performed in a group of 3-4.
The Charmer tryout involves one routine integrated with leaps, turns, and kicks performed in a group of 3-4.
Certain skills are not required for trying out (back tuck, splits, etc.)
There will be no makeup tryouts
No, practice and tryouts are closed to public.
No, scores are kept confidential.
