Hello! I am excited to be your child’s teacher this year and promise to fill the year with valuable, intriguing experiences that will help him or her continue to grow, learn, and develop. I would like to welcome you, as parents, guardians, or grandparents, to our classroom anytime. It is important you are involved in the education process and the classroom is a great place to be! Just let me know if you are interested in spending an hour or two here in the classroom. You can simply observe, work with students one-on-one, or help with cutting or hanging projects. Any involvement you show is important to your child.
Before we get started with information for the school year I wanted to share a little bit more about me! I am originally from a a small town in southwest Wisconsin, called Avoca. In 2015 I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from UW-Whitewater. This is the start of my third year in Fort Atkinson - for the last two years I have been a fifth grade teacher at Purdy Elementary. Teaching is my passion and I absolutely love what I do! Inspiring students to find a love of reading, challenging students to grow in math, and learning about your child’s hopes and dreams is so important to me. I look forward to a year of working closely with your child (and you!) to help them learn, grow, and have a little fun along the way.
Lastly, I wanted to share a little bit about my teaching background. In 2015 I graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and minors in both math and library media technology. Before I started my teaching career, I had the the awesome opportunity to student teach abroad--I spent 6 weeks teaching in Mandeville, Jamaica! It was the most challenging, yet rewarding thing I have ever done and I am so thankful that I was able learn and grow as a eductor during that time. In January of 2017, I was invited back to Mandeville to present at their international Teacher's Education Conference.
Communication is very important to me. I usually get to school around 7;30 am and am available to set up phone calls or meetings any time after school between 3:15-4:00. My email is korthj@fortschools.org and my can be reached by phone at 920-563-7828 ext. 6141. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with comments, questions, or concerns.
