2nd Hour Biology: jdbcrx2
6th Hour Biology: embc2e5
In this Biology class, we actually DO science, we don’t just read and memorize it! In each unit this year, we will be exploring various biological phenomenon based around different organisms. We will be observing interactions, collecting and viewing data, and applying a wide variety of scientific concepts that make up biology (DNA, Energy Transfer, Cell Division, Homeostasis, Evolution, Natural Selection, and Comparative Anatomy just to name a few!). In all units, we also look at the impact humans have made on each species- both positive and negative.
These units involve students making sense of the natural world through the use of authentic data, while also integrating different areas of science together when they are necessary to solve a problem. This allows for much deeper and longer lasting learning because everything is taught in context of the real world.
Above all else, students are expected to respect one another, as well as to the teacher.
Attendance: Students at school are expected to arrive to the classroom on time and be seated in their seat when the bell rings.
Assignment Expectations: Students are expected to turn in their assignments on time. Unless otherwise specified, the due date is the day after the assignment was given.
Late Work Policy: Work will not be accepted after each unit test.
Re-Take Policy: Students may retake any quizzes until we take the assessment for that unit. In addition, a student may retake a unit assessment up until the time we take the assessment for the following unit. I am quite flexible on when these quizzes/assessments can be redone and the student simply needs to talk to me or email me so we can set up a time either before or after school that works with all of our schedules.
