Dear Viking Families,

We have found our rythym this year and our building is alive with all the learning and leading! Having you all back in our building for lunches adds such a positive and warm element to our school. Thank you for following our processes and making your time meaningful with your child during lunch.

We are already excited for Boosterthon this year! I wanted to share with you exactly what this money will go towards if we hit our mark. We hope to add another six swings on the 3-5 playground as well as replace the ones currently there. We will be adding a more inclusive swing as well for our students who have physical limitations on both the K-2 and the 3-5 playgrounds. We also will add another sun shade and tables/chairs for the 3-5 playground and the K-2 playground. I'm in the process of obtaining three quotes to be sure we get the most we can for our money. I will have pictures soon for you to see exactly what we are looking to replace. If we have money left, we hope to repaint the sage green color on our walls in the front when you walk in as well as upgrade our sound system in the cafe. We will turn 30 years old in 2027. With our 30th birthday approaching, many of our playground pieces have never been replaced before. While our county facilities helps us maintain the integrity of these pieces by helping us fix, update, and evaluate them each year for us they do not purchase these pieces. This cost is on the school and Boosterthon is our only fundraiser each year that helps us raise funds to do this. Over the past two years, we have replaced a piece of playground equipment on each side, revampted and repainted the gym, media center, and cafe. We are always looking for ways to update, upgrade, and provide opportunities for students to play and enjoy our building in a way that supports their growth and learning. Your generosity can be seen throughout our campus. Your generosity is so appreciated  THANK YOU! As a reminder, please be sure to RSVP in the below link if you plan on coming to school to support your child participate in the Fun Run on September 24th. Every person must have a Raptor badge and if you don't RSVP, the line could take a while. We would hate for you to miss the run based on trying to check in! This RSVP closes on Tuesday, the 22nd at 3:00pm. 

Please take some time over Fall Break to complete two things for us: 1 - Vote for any teacher for September’s Spirit of the Viking Habit 1 Award as well as any support staff member for the Playmaker Spirit of the Viking - this closes right after Fall Break. And 2 - Complete the MRA survey. Your voice is such an important part of understanding the areas we do well and how we can get better. 

I hope you all enjoy the week. Once we return, October is full of so many events and opportunities to connect with us! From clubs and Precess in full swing, to opportunities to volunteer through PTO Viking Volunteers as well as Viking Dads, to our first round of field trips including our second annual West Homecoming Parade our 5th graders will get to participate in, to Fall student conferences and our online learning day, to our Fall Book Fair, and ending the month with our annual West Fest/Trunk or Treat event. I look forward to seeing you at these events as we come together to lead, rise, and grow.
