A note from Nurse Cindy regarding medication:
There are many things to think about the last week of school. Here are just a few reminders from the clinic:
If you should have medication in the clinic, please plan to stop by and pick it up before 3:00pm on the last day. A parent must pick these up.
Students are not allowed to carry any medications.
Any medication left after the end of the school year must be discarded.
Also, when planning for next year:
The county requires new medical forms EVERY school year for every student that has a listed medical condition. The forms must be signed by a doctor and dated after the last day of school this year for the school year. Please provide them to your school nurse when school resumes in August to ensure a safe and healthy school year.
Please click here to print the necessary Action Plan Form for each medical condition.
· EpiPen and/or Benadryl require an Allergy Action Plan
· Asthma medications require an Asthma Action Plan
· Seizure Medications require a Seizure Action Plan
· Use the Individual Healthcare Plan for conditions not listed
· Other health condition forms are available as well IE: ADD/ADHD
· For any medications use the Medication Administration Form
· All prescription meds will require a doctor’s signature.
Also, please contact your student’s primary care provider to see if they will need any required immunizations before school resumes in August.
Feel free to call or email me with any questions.
Wishing you all a safe and fun summer,
Nurse Cindy

Enrichment News
It’s hard to believe the end of the year is here! We are so proud of our readers! Many students reached or even surpassed our 25 book reading goal, and all students reached a milestone of reading every day and reading more books in one year than they probably ever have before. For our fourth and final book reflection, students will be making a book recommendation slide about their favorite book from 6th grade. These recommendations will be compiled into a master list. We will email you this list and it will be posted on Facebook so that you and your student have access to it over the summer. Students will continue their reading endeavors in seventh grade enrichment, and they will be able to use this list to help guide them in their picks as well. It has been a pleasure watching your child grow in their love of reading, or maybe at least finally tolerating it. 😀 Have a wonderful summer!
Math News
Students in on-level and advanced classes are finishing up the year with a summative project over equations and inequalities. Beginning the week of May 15th, students will begin reviewing for the math final exam. Students in accelerated math have a summative exam scheduled for May 16th and will review for the final exam during the remainder of the week. The 6th-grade math final exam is cumulative and is scheduled for Monday, May 22nd.
Science News
Students are learning what causes weather by studying the major weather fronts and predicting temperature and precipitation changes. We are still in the unit called Unit 5 – Climate & Weather. There is a formative this Friday, May 12th over winds, weather fronts, and storms. Next week, students will learn about hurricanes and their destructive forces. This in turn will lead students to build a miniature, hurricane-proof house utilizing a budget to purchase items needed for their house. It will be an exciting way to end our year in science seeing which house can withstand mighty artificial winds! A final for this unit will be given on Tuesday, May 23rd.
Social Studies News
Social Studies is wrapping up the final unit of the year - Australia's Government and Economy. Students will examine citizen participation in government and take a critical look at Australia's mandatory voting laws. We will also examine how voluntary trade benefits buyers and sellers in Australia. We will explore the topic of specialization and examine how this makes trade possible between countries. Last, we will examine the factors that influence economic growth (Capital, Human Capital, Natural Resources, and Entrepreneurship) and determine their presence or absence in Australia. The social studies final exam will be on Friday, May 19.
