STEM K12 5: Leaders ensure that all stakeholders have ongoing opportunities to access information and learn about STEM implementation.
Impact Narrative:
Kelly Mill Elementary communicates STEM opportunities in many ways, and we believe that all stakeholders need to be knowledgeable of STEM initiatives, activities, and events. One of our tenants, We Are Family,supports our commitment to communicating parent opportunities as an outreach strategy to share our STEM activities. Partnering with our Kelly Mill PTO, we created the Colt Connection to display information, including student-led recycling projects and data analysis. KME has an active presence onsocial media to communicate Kelly Mill STEM-based opportunities. Our Facebook presence and embedded STEM-related posts date back to our inception and continue to be a valued source for parents and our fellow educators to be informed of our work.
Since its creation, Kelly Mill has highlighted accomplishments to our stakeholders. We created a YouTube channel in 2014 to showcase STEM and continue to provide stakeholders with additional ongoing opportunities to access STEM information. Our YouTube channel has been a continuous source of news from Kelly Mill leaders to the community. Students are proud of and want to showcase their work throughout each school year.
Our community of stakeholders has expected diverse partnerships and excellent communication from Kelly Mill, and we continue to develop the 4Cs and specifically critical thinkers in our building through STEM. Students have come to understand and believe in our “next steps”. We value the partnerships that help support Kelly Mill. In the future, Kelly Mill would like to continue utilizing our strong social media presence to harness shared resources to ensure successful collaboration and communication.
