As a part of our South Forsyth Vertical Team, Haw Creek is partnering with our feeder schools to make an impact on our community. We will begin collecting all non-perishable foods throughout October at Haw Creek. Families are also able to make monetary donations starting October 1st through October 30th on SchoolPay where every $1 donated = 1 pound of food toward our school's total raised. All donations benefit The Place of Forsyth County because as South United WE CAN: Fight Hunger Together!

Please join us November 5th from 5 to 7 for a night of fun at Barnes & Noble in The Collection.  There will be a choral performance by our very own Harmony Huskies, story time with Dr. J, and a wonderful selection of books for our students.  We'd love to see you there.

Sharon Springs is excited to announce their FALCON FEST at Joint Venture Park on October 23rd from 6-8pm. This event will help raise funds for the park and encourage community involvement by bringing local families together for a fun day! 

The Husky Pack Mutt Strut 5K isn't just a race; it's our chance to make school a fundamentally more supportive and exciting place. All funds raised are dedicated to developing our very own on-campus Therapy Dog Park!

This park won't just be for play—it will be a vital "outdoor classroom" where students can integrate:

• Essential Skills: Students will incorporate Occupational Therapy (OT), speech therapy, gross motor skills, and functional communication in a dynamic, natural setting.

• Vocational Training: Older students can gain valuable life and vocational skills by learning to manage and maintain the park facility.

• Community Outreach: The park will serve as a welcoming hub for other Forsyth County schools, creating opportunities for peers to visit, connect, and meet our incredible Haw Creek Therapy Dog team.

• Celebrating Positive Choices: Beyond targeted therapies, we believe in celebrating our students’ positive decisions. The Therapy Dog Park will become a premier PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) incentive. We look forward to seeing students earn well-deserved time to play, connect, and relax in the park, motivated by the joy our therapy dog team brings to Haw Creek every day.

We are looking forward to a great Veterans Day celebration on Tuesday, November 11.  Families, please click this LINK to indicate your participation. If your family is participating with a Veteran in the parade, please note we will send a separate email to determine the type of transportation.

Child Safety Matters lessons will be starting soon. Look out for a notification 14 days before lessons begin. Once your child's lessons are taught an email will be sent out letting you know. 

If your child is recently new to Haw Creek a paper permission form will be sent home before lessons begin. 

Haw Creek's Local School Council  will meet again on Monday, November 2nd. Our Timely Topic is School Safety and this meeting is open to the school community for anyone who may want to learn more about the ways we work to keep our school and community safe. 

Throughout the year, our agendas will cover:

• November 2nd: Safety, Behavior, and Discipline

• January 11th: Instruction and Student Growth

• March 8th: Educational Technology and Instruction

• April 19th: Communication and Connection

As we schedule district guests to join us, we will share when each topic will be covered. If a topic is interesting to you, you are always welcome to join us.

Family Challenge: Think together about what we want to be known for. Here are some questions to guide your thinking:

• What qualities do we want to have as a family or want to work towards having?

• What are 3 words that describe our family?

• What are 5 things we like to do?

• How can we use our gifts, talents, and passions to serve others as a family?

• How do we want to treat EACH OTHER?

ACT - Brainstorm these questions and start to put together your Family Mission Statement - it can be as simple as one word or a motto that you can repeat to keep your family on track. 

Don't forget to CELEBRATE your family successes and victories practicing Habit 2!

Calling all of our AMAZING Haw Creek Artists! The American Cancer Society is bringing families together in Cumming, for a different kind of pediatric cancer awareness event—one inspired by the heart and imagination of a 12-year-old girl who experienced the impact of pediatric cancer personally and decided she wanted to do something about it. One special part of the event is the student art contest, which gives young artists a tangible way to use their creativity for a greater purpose.
