How to open or close a Google form

Form Controller helps you control when you want to open or close the form.Let's try to understand the features through a set of examples.You can access settings from by opening "Setup Controller" from the add-on menu.

Timezone

By default the add-on identifies your timezone .If you want to set it up for a different timezone  please select the appropriate timezone from the dropdown.This is mandatory for all the setups and most of the time you do not have to do anything.

Please note that this Timezone settings is different from Timezone and Date Time pattern

Open on a Future Date

Are you launching a new product and want your Google Form to open on a specific Date and Time ?

On the  "Setup Controller"  window select the future date and time for "Open form at" when you want the form to be open as shown below.

Close On a Future Date

Do you have a google form thats already open and want to close it on a specific future date ?

On the  "Setup Controller"  window select the future date and time for "Close form at" when you want the form to be closed as shown below.

Display Custom Message for Respondents

When the form is closed you may want your respondents to see a specific message.Check the below configuration that uses  "This form is no longer available" as the custom close message.This message will be displayed to the respondents when the form is closed.

Please note that you can not set close message alone in a form controller.You must set some close conditions along with the close message for this to take effect.

Open and Close in Future

Let's say you want to keep the form open starting from next Monday at 10 AM to Friday at 5 PM .Assuming today is 19th June 2021 you can use the following controller setup.

Open and Close Recurringly For Ever

Let's say you want to open the form  every Wednesday and Thursday between 10 AM and 12 PM .Then use the controller settings as shown below.

Open and Close Recurringly Between specific Dates

Let's say you want to open the form  every Wednesday and Thursday between 10 AM and 12 PM between 21st June 2021 and 21st Oct 12 AM .Then use the controller settings as shown below.

Things to Remember

• There may be a delay of +/-15 minutes during form open and close relative to the exact time mentioned in the controller settings.This is because of the way google notifies add-ons on a particular time.

• When Open and Close dates are mentioned they take precedence over Recurring Open and Close time.

Let's say 19th June of a particular year falls on Saturday You have mentioned close date as 19th June 2 PM and Recurring End Time  as Friday ,Saturday between 10 AM to 4 PM. On Saturday 19th June the Close Time(2 PM) comes before the Recurring End Time (4 PM).So the Form will be closed at 2 PM on 19th June.
