Hello my name is Caitlyn Shult, I grew up on Long Island and went to Mount Saint Mary College and recieved my BA in Human Services with a concentration in social work. I decided to attend MSMC due to their wonderful 3-2 program with Fordham University. I was able to complete this program early and will be graduating May 2019 with my MSW. I knew since high school Ive always wanted to change the world. I found my love and interest for mental health and substance abuse. I hope in the future I am able to revamp AA or 12 steps that can better help the community when it comes to substance abuse.
Hi, I’m Dianne Galasso. After a 15 year hiatus, I decided to go back to school to finish my degree. I went to CUNY School of Professional Studies where I graduated in 2016 with my BA in Psychology. I decided to head to Fordham University to get my MSW because I think the marriage of psychology and social work is a winning combination when wanting to help individuals in the mental health field and live their best lives. I am a born, raised and still live in Brooklyn, NY! I have been working at my place of employment for the last 27 years and I am very excited to be a career changer. I continue to pursue my passion and dreams of becoming an LCSW. I’m proud to be part of the Fordham Family!
Hi! My name is Kayla. I am from Long Island, NY. I graduated from Sacred Heart University with a BS in Psychology in May 2018. I decided that I wanted to pursue Social Work since there are so many different career opportunities within the field. I hope to one day open my own clinical practice or work in the field of animal assisted therapy, specifically equine therapy. I look forward to this journey and I am excited to see where it takes me!
My name is Sabrina Swaby and I’m from Long Island, NY. I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology from the State University of New York at Old Westbury. With my foundation in Psychology and my future in Social Work, my ultimate life’s passion is to help others in need; mentally, emotionally, physically, socially, economically and more. Deciding to pursue the field of Social Work was based on my experience making more of an impact on the lives of individuals by providing a more hands on service. I have a lot of experience in the Social Work field but, my ultimate career goal is to own my own chain of residential facilities (shelters, group homes, affordable housing). In any and everything I do, I made sure it aligns with my purpose in life. Therefore becoming a member of Phi Alpha National Honor Society for Social Work is not only a honor but opportunity to network and connect with a community of individuals like me!
Hi, I’m Shivani! This bio may turn into a lot of oversharing so please bear with me!
I received my B.A in Psychology from CCNY in 2016. After taking a year off from school, I came to realize that social work is where my heart is.
My experience thus far has been in non-profit agencies. I hope to eventually move towards working at a hospital setting. I spent a lot of childhood (and still do) going to the hospital due to my heart condition.
Usually, I give the generic answer of “I want to help people” when I’m asked why I chose social work. However, I think it goes beyond that. I want to be the person I never had when I was growing up.
After I turned 18, I found myself in a really dark place. I didn’t think I’d finish college, let alone have what it takes to live. However, I somehow managed to push through and I am finally in a better place.
I hope to get my LCSW down the road and work with youth (specifically LGBTQ+ identified youth!) I want to take my experiences and my identity to spread a little bit more light to those around me.
I am so excited and honored to join the Phi Alpha Honor Society!
