Themes of Catholic Social Teaching

In this photo we see a teenage girl on her phone while 2 other girls her age are staring and smiling. The one in the red looks very hurt and upset because she is most likely being bullied. We need movements to end what is going on with teenage girls, because people think it is ok to keep bullying and hurting these girls. The MARC Center is an example of a movement to end what is going on because they have training and talks to attend about this topic.

Option for the Poor and Vulnerable

Option for the Poor and Vulnerable. The expression "preferential option for the poor" refers to a pattern that happens throughout the Bible, where God's teachings and instructions, as well as those of the prophets and other moral people, prioritize the well-being of the underprivileged and helpless members of society.

Pope Francis, writing in Fratelli Tutti, says, “What is needed is a model of social, political and economic participation ‘that can include popular movements’ . . . Such movements are ‘social poets’ that, in their own way, work, propose, promote and liberate. They help make possible an integral human development that goes beyond ‘the idea of social policies being a policy for the poor, but never with the poor and never of the poor, much less part of a project that reunites peoples’.”

We are all the same, yes there is a little difference between color, religion, talent and place of birth but overall we were all born with the state of being respected. Respect has so much to do with not only teenage girls but everyone in this world.

Life and Dignity of the Human Person

Life and Dignity of a Human Person. The Catholic Church declares that human life is sacred and that a society's moral foundation lies on the dignity of every individual.

Pope Francis, writing in Fratelli Tutti, On Fraternity and Social Friendship, "The world exists for everyone, because all of us were born with the same dignity. Differences of color, religion, talent, place of birth or residence, and so many others, cannot be used to justify the privileges of some over the rights of all. As a community, we have an obligation to ensure that every person lives with dignity and has sufficient opportunities for his or her integral development".
