Sierra Bausemer

My name is Sierra Bausemer and I am a student at Fontbonne Academy in Milton MA. My social justice project focuses on the sensationalization of true crime in the media. From a young age I have watched the news, true crime documentaries and series, as well as fiction based crime shows with my grandparents and now just my grandfather. Although I have always felt, and still feel, this was very educational, as I did research I discovered the negative side of true crime media and how I was adding to a larger problem by unknowingly feeding into sometimes sensationalized media. This connection makes me want to educate more people about how their own hobbies or interests might not be meeting the needs of others and revictimizing the families of or the people they are fascinated with learning about.
