My Action Plan

I have developed a comprehensive three prong action plan to address different aspects of the issue of racism in healthcare. To contribute, visit the Get Involved section.

Gift Card Drive

For this prong, I am organizing a gift card drive to benefit the Social Work department at Boston Children's Hospital. The hospital distributes them to low-income families to buy healthy food, medicine, and other necessities. The gift cards should be preferably $5-$10 to Target, Walmart, or drugstores. Monetary donations are also welcome, which will be used to purchase gift cards. They will be collected at Fontbonne throughout May.

Stickers

I have designed stickers that read healthcare is a human right and will be selling them for $1. The stickers will raise awareness of healthcare inequities and I will be donating most of the profits to the Black Woman's Health Imperative. The BWHI is a groundbreaking foundation that has been improving the health and well being of Black women since 1983. The BWHI sponsors all sorts of different projects, ranging from a preventative diabetes program, to policy development, to a program that increases Black women participation in clinical trials for cancer and other serious diseases.

Petition

I have linked a petition to sign to pass Congresswomen Ayanna Presley and Barbra Lee and Senator Elizabeth Warren’s “Anti-Racism in Public Health Act”, or HR 666. If passed, this bill would declare racism as a public health crisis and develop two programs at the CDC. The new programs created would be a “National Center for Anti-Racism at the CDC” and a “Law Enforcement Violence Prevention Program within the National Center for Injury Prevention and Control at the CDC”. These two programs would conduct research, award grants, educate the public, and would combat both the health equity issues in both medical centers and within law enforcement to combat police brutality.
