Haiti's Hidden Injustice

Introduction

"Bay kou. bliye, pote mak sonje": The Culprit Forgets, The Victim Remembers

Hi welcome to the history of my people!

My focus is on the country of Haiti and how much America and the French have impacted the lives of millions.  It is important to shine light on the history of Haiti and how much was taken from them.

Why I choose this topic?

My ancestry and identity is of great importance to me. All four of my grandparents and my father where born in Haiti, making me Haitian American.  Growing up I would hear about the beauties of Haiti, the amazing people, and food.  My grandfather used to travel every year to deliver clothes, toys and other things to his people, but over time he had to stop going. I can remember being super small and my mom showing me photos of the earthquake in 2010 and seeing all of the suffering, casualties and devastation. But the one thing my family made sure I understood was how much our country was robbed of opportunity. Sadly, they made sure that I knew that because of our countries history I may never be able to go see the birthplace of my father and the rest of my family. So this is my Social Justice Project, the unspoken history of my people, Haiti's Hidden Injustice.
