How is Society Affected by Mental Health?

There are so many factors that affect teens mental well being around the country that many tend to over look. Some of the key ones are: Social media, Alcohol and drug use, friends, domestic life, and even school. Social media is the biggest factor that comes into play, because many teens have grown up with it. Between the ages of 13-19 1 in 6 teens struggle from some sort of mental health disorder. its proven that 42% of all teens say that they are struggling with thought of loneliness and feeling helpless. The teens that struggle the most are girls who have said that 57% of them are having feelings of depression and feeling alone. Knowing that these numbers are so high and so prominent its hard to just sit back and allow things to get worse.

Another struggle that girls go through with social media, is the sexual abuse they get from posting pictures. Many girls have come forward about how they feel as though they are being used for their body which brings about another factor, which is body image. This is a huge struggle with girls on social media such as TikTok, Snapchat, and Instagram being the biggest instigators for poor mental health in the US.
