Dustin Hoke is the Band Director at Springfield Middle School in Fort Mill, South Carolina. Originally from Claremont, North Carolina, Mr. Hoke began playing the saxophone at age nine. He received the bachelor of science degree in music education from Western Carolina University, where he studied saxophone, conducting, and composition. At WCU he served in leadership positions for the Sudler Trophy recipient “Pride of the Mountains” Marching Band under the direction of Bob Buckner and Matt Henley.
Prior to his arrival at Springfield in 2021, Mr. Hoke served 9 years in the North Carolina Public Schools System and most recently was the Director of Bands at CE Williams Middle School in Charleston, SC. Under his baton, bands have received consistent superior and excellent ratings at Concert Performance Assessment with active student placement in Region and All State.
In addition to his teaching responsibilities, Mr. Hoke is an active composer, arranger, and designer. In 2015, Mr. Hoke released his first marching band publication entitled "ReInvention" with Grand Mesa Music Publishing which has been performed throughout the United States and in Japan. He is a member of the National Association for Music Education and the National Band Association. He currently resides in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Will Shillington is a recent graduate of Winthrop University, where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education in Instrumental Music. During his time at Winthrop, Will earned honors such as the 2025 Presser Scholarship and took on leadership roles in multiple organizations, including Winthrop’s collegiate chapter of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), the Winthrop Association of Brass Students, and the Nu Kappa chapter of Phi Mu Alpha.
Will’s primary instrument is the bass trombone, a type of trombone specially designed for playing low notes. As a bass trombonist, he’s had the opportunity to perform with several professional ensembles, including the nearby Rock Hill Symphony Orchestra. In 2024, he was honored to perform as a soloist with the Winthrop Wind Symphony after winning the annual Bruce Thompson Concerto Competition. His passion for music has also taken him across the country to festivals like the Sewanee Summer Music Festival, the International Trombone Festival, the Southeast Trombone Symposium, and the American Trombone Workshop.
In addition to his performance experience, Will has also been an active private lesson and sectional instructor for brass students across the Fort Mill and Clover areas, with his students earning spots in All-State Band, All-State Orchestra, and Region Bands. A graduate of Fort Mill Schools, Will is excited to return to the district as a band director, where he looks forward to fostering the growth and success of the students at Springfield Middle School. Will currently resides in Fort Mill, South Carolina.
