My name is Aaron Thrasher, and I am excited to be your child's STEAM teacher this year!
I grew up in Clinton, TN, a small town just north of Knoxville. I knew I wanted to be a teacher starting in high school when my astronomy teacher asked me to help him teaching a unit. After that, I was hooked. I realized I wanted to be an elementary educator after working with the first-year campers at my local Boy Scout camp. I love working with 5th graders because they want to be leaders and work well as a team.
I attended Clemson University from 2005-2010, graduating with a BA in Elementary Education. I am currently decided on what to pursue for my masters, but have the list narrowed down. I have a passion for STEM education. I love seeing kids think through problems and coming up with a variety of solutions. STEM allows students to be creative and helps them see that there is more then one way to solve a problem.
This will be my eighth year teaching, and my first teaching just STEAM. Prior to this year, I taught 5th grade for four years and 4th grade for three. I taught in Cleveland, TN, for two years with Bradley County Schools, and four years in Rock Hill with Rock Hill Schools. This will be my second year with Fort Mill Schools.
I currently live in Rock Hill with my gorgeous wife Jenna. We were married on October 5, 2013, here in Fort Mill at the Dairy Barn! She works for Messer Construction in Charlotte as the Regional Administrative Lead. We just had our first born son, Jeremy, back in June, and have one cat, Cricket. We love cheering on our Tigers and Panthers in football, and spending every warm weekend on the lake!
