THURSDAYS 4:30-5:30 (immediately after Band)
Open to students in grades 8-12 with a fair level of ability on their instrument and significant ability reading music.
This class moves quickly through a wide variety of repertoire. We start with lead sheets and work on learning how to improvise. We may add written charts as well. Some tunes work for us and others don't.
Some students may be able to transfer to Senior Band at 2nd semester. This is up to the Director.
Instrumental Music 10-20-30 earn 5 credits for a full year even as a beginner. For those in grade 12 we can try to make arrangements to "fast-track" to earn 3 20-level and 3 30-level credits in the final year.
VARIED REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES
There are no credits for this ensemble. it is a student-led, teacher-facilitated group.
Students take leadership and develop their musicality by researching, choosing, arranging, rehearsing, advertising, and performing pop music. Participants should already be performing at a reasonably advanced level.
Student led. Teacher facilites but does not provide direct leadership.
Students MUST be enrolled and attending relevant music classes (Band, Choir, Guitar).
Students may be asked to audition for the teacher and a panel of existing members.
