Alberta Education Learner Supports

Subject: Specialized Supports and Services for Home Education

Dear parents, guardians and colleagues:

I am pleased to confirm that Alberta Education will be investing $2 million over the next two years to extend access to specialized services to home education families in the province, connecting students to supports.

Home education students who have an identified need for additional supports for their education program will be able to access services from professionals, including speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and behaviour specialists. The program is now available to serve home education students and their families.

This new program closes a critical gap for thousands of Alberta children, and ensures home education students have access to the same supports as other students.

You can find out more about this program here.

If you are a school authority that supervises a home education program, please forward this email to the parents of students enrolled in the home education program for their awareness.

Sincerely,

Adriana LaGrange

Minister of Education
