If students are working towards obtaining a Florida Learner’s License, then the course has some additional benefits. By successfully completing the Driver Education course at Florida Virtual School students will:
Meet the requirement of passing a driver education traffic safety course, which as of July 1, 2025 is a requirement for persons under the age of 18 to pass a driver's education safety course to obtain a learner's license. The process for showing proof of completion to the FLHSMV is to be determined.
Be issued a receipt number for the required 4-hour Traffic Law and Substance Abuse Education (TLSAE) which is one of the requirements for a license.
Have the opportunity to take the online version of the 50 question General Knowledge Exam required to earn their license. A link to the exam be availble on your flvs.net Student Dashboard within around 48 hours of your completion of the course.
The online version of the Class E Knowledge Exam/Learner's License Exam is only available to students under the age of 18 years old. Students 18 and older will need to take the General Knowledge Exam at the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The online option is free and you may attempt the test up to three times online (one retake per day). The first attempt on the General Knowledge Exam at the DMV is included in the standard license fee, check with your local DMV office for the pricing of retakes.
Students experiencing technical difficulties with the online version of the General Knowledge Exam (learner's license exam) should ,open a open a help incident, use the FLVS Help Center link Contact Us - FLVS, or call the help line 800-374-1430. The help line is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and on weekends from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Students should also review the Florida Driver Handbook prior to attempting to take either the online or traditional version of the General Knowledge test. While this FLVS Driver Education course reviews all national driving laws, there are some Florida-specific driving laws that this course does not cover. Students with a Florida learner’s or operator’s driver license are still encouraged to take Driver Education at FLVS and will earn .5 of a high school credit upon course completion. Licensed students will still need to take the final exam to complete the course, but can skip the general knowledge test for licensing that will be offered via a message to the student's FLVS main message box upon completion of the course. Students can print a copy of the unofficial transcript from the student records section of www.FLVS.net once the course is complete to provide to insurance companies as proof of completion. Some insurance companies provide a discount for completing a Driver Education Course, others do not. Students and families will want to check with your insurance provider to obtain more information on possible discounts. If your insurance company requires a certificate of completion, let your instructor know and he or she will create one for you.
Please be aware that the option you choose depends on how much time has passed since completed your course final.

Once you either click on the blue link or use Lessons you can access your TLSAE course certificate and the online Class E Knowledge/Learner's License Exam in your "To Do" list.
The contract must be signed before you can access the Class E Knowledge Exam. You will see this once you have completed the FLVS Driver Education course and clicked on the blue "Your Completed Driver Education Course Information" link on your FLVS.net student dashboard. You will be prompted to read through this contract when you begin registration for the Class E Knowledge Exam section in the "To Do" list.
DriversEd.com Student Enrollment Contract
Student Enrollment Contract
This contract is to certify that:
The STUDENT will take the Class E Knowledge exams from a DriversEd.com Third Party Driver License Testing Service (hereafter known as DriversEd.com).
The registration fee for this Class E Knowledge exam is $24.95 total (Exam fee is waived for FLVS students). The fee is due before beginning the test. The STUDENT can pay for the course with a credit card, electronic check, or check/money order in the mail.
The exam consists of 50 questions. DriversEd.com will enforce a 60-minute time limit to answer all questions. Failure to complete the exam within this time limit will result in that test attempt being marked as expired.
You must receive 80% on the exam to pass the Class E Knowledge Test.
You will be asked personal validation questions (hereafter PVQ) throughout the exam. PVQ are based on information you supplied during registration. Failure to answer these PVQ correctly will result in an expired test. An expired test is equivalent to a test failure. According to Florida law, "Any student or parent or guardian giving false statements regarding the student's testing efforts is committing fraud and subject to license cancellation for a period of one (1) year in accordance with section 322.22 and 322.27(1)(d) F.S."
The DHSMV allows 2 retakes from ANY third party provider. That means if you have failed an exam with another provider, that failure will count during the DriversEd.com exam. If you fail the exam three (3) times, you will be required to take it at a drivers license or tax collectors office.
According to Florida law, "All students are subject to random selection for retesting at the driver license or tax collector office prior to the issuance of any license. Failure to pass the random retest will require the student to pass the knowledge test in a driver license or tax collector office prior to license issuance." Aceable will not charge you a fee for this.
Class E Knowledge Exam results are valid for 1 year. After 1 year the results expire and the student must retake the exam in person at a driver license or tax collector office prior to license issuance.
