Helpful Hints:
Use exact words from the passage, but no quotes
Main Conclusion is what the entire passage is about
Intermediate Conclusion (IC) is what each paragraph is about
Use bullet points for IC
If they ask for 3 give 4
Remember your other Argument Elements
Unstated Assumptions = the missing link that is not stated
Helpful Hints:
Know your Flaw/Fallacies/Weaknesses.
Know your Appeals.
Identify - Evaluate - Explain - Know how to answer these COMMAND WORDS
If a question is 3 marks, your answer should be about 3 sentences and every sentence should be answering the question to earn you a mark.
Helpful Hints:
Bias and Vested Interest are NOT the same thing. Make sure you use the correct word.
When it asks "how effectively does source C respond to source A COMPARE AND CONTRAST THE STUDIES. What were they measuring? How were they measuring it?
When it asks "How reliably can this be inferred from source D?" Remember this is critical thinking and if the answer comes to you in less than a second, it's probably not correct. Do not summarize the source. Think if what the quote is saying is ACTUALLY what happened in the source.
Helpful Hints:
Plan your response before you write it.
Use the exact words in the claim in you conclusion.
Make the conclusion the first sentence
Analyze the sources first, then figure out how they can support your conclusion
Make sure you pay attention to which argument you are writing, should you be using sources or not?
