Instruments, do we buy or rent?

This is a good question with no right answer!

Instruments for students in Training Band and Concert Band:

We recommend renting an instrument until you know if it’s true love!

Woodwinds and brass can be hired through Flodge Music at half yearly cost of $266.

Percussion instruments are kept at school, so no need to rent! But we do ask that students buy their own drum sticks (who wouldn't want a pair of those!). Bruce Stephens, our percussion tutor, will guide you when you start lessons!

Instruments for students in Beginner and Continuing Strings:

Don’t buy your string instrument just yet - rent one! Arms grow quickly, and soon you’ll need a size up. Our school doesn’t have a collection of strings to offer for rent, so I recommend visiting one of these fantastic places:

You can also hire instruments relatively cheaply from the NSW Government Arts Unit
