Our philosophy: To encourage each student to reach his/her highest potential possible in all aspects of life and to become a contributing adult in the community upon graduation.
Our class goals: Students will increase their knowledge and performance in academics, leisure skills, social skills, and personal management skills.
Class Descriptions: Classes will focus on functional academics: math, english language arts, science, and social studies. Throughout the day students will work on daily living skills, personal/social skills, recreation/ leisure skills, and community based instruction.
IEP Goals: Students will work daily towards mastery of IEP goals and objects.
Community Based Instruction Trips: In addition to topics covered in the classroom, students will participate in CBI trips. These trips take functional skills learned in the classroom and apply them to a community setting. Money management, safety, etiquette, and communication skills are addressed during these outings. A calendar of events will be sent home each month with an attached permission slip. The permission slip must be returned before a student can participate in a CBI activity.
Grading Scale: A = 90 - 100 B = 80 - 89 C = 71-79 D =70
Course Materials: These materials are required in class everyday.

Class expectations:
Show respect to your teacher and classmates.
Follow the classroom rules and procedures.
Be prepared to learn daily.
Participate in all activities as directed by faculty/staff.

Cell Phones: All cell phones must be silenced and placed in their backpack each morning. If cell phones are seen or heard, they will be taken up.
Homework: All students will have homework at various times throughout the semester. This can include class assignments as well as make up/unfinished work.
