Summer Readings for all English courses are to be completed over the summer and students are to be prepared to take a comprehensive, detail-oriented objective test the first week of school in September. This test will ask questions that reach beyond the generalizations of published synopses and require students to read actively and attentively.

Students should pay close attention to characters, events, plot shifts, setting and other details contained in the story. It is recommended that students write a handwritten journal with personal notes about noticed symbolism, inferences and implications made by authors as one reads, for this may help in remembering details for study at the conclusion of the summer. In addition, these handwritten journals may be used as a test reference.

Readings are available online, through any library or bookstore or Florence Township Memorial High School.
